Post HELMET RULE FOR 1/8 TRACKS

Went to Martel Brothers today and they have the new rule book. It states for passenger type vehicles, that if they go faster than 8.99 in the 1/8 mile, the driver must wear a helmet. Well, I now have a helmet. I hate it already, but I'm racin tomorrow nite and was told after my 8.19 to have one by this week.

Are they cracking down on everyone or just you because you are so much faster? I don't wanna spend $200 on something that won't make me go faster!

Duck, Martel bros. sold me a nice open face helmet that meets all the current requirements for 90.00 plus tax.

Cool

Noel,

If you don't like the way the helmet looks, do what I did.

People look right at me and don't even realize its a helmet.

Cool

A quick trip to Spencers (wig) and Home Depot (3M adhesive) should fix you up. If you really want to impress your friends, you can glue your gloves to the wheel like in the picture.

Cool

I found a beautiful black helmet in perfect shape at a garage sale for $20 bucks. Cool helmet sixpipes. Can that be purchased through your Go-rila Racing Products Catalog?

Lone Star Raceway responded to my question about helmets. They stated that a helmet was required for passenger type vehicles running 8.49 or faster in the 1/8 mile.

Thumbs up

My NHRA 1/8 mile track-Jax Raceway has always been 8.50 or less for a helmet.
Surprised me. First time I ran 8.15 I was told to wear my helmet but I argued "I was only going 85 mph, officer",he,he.
No help there and no sense of humor neither.
Still think it's a stupid rule.
Luckily, I had my helmet from running the 1/4 the night before.
