I have a 2000 without any issues but when I bought it, I had it sprayed it with Krown which is similar to Rust Check. Spray the door seams and problem/potential problem area with it and it will either stop it or prevent it. Mine was sprayed once but is now due for another treatment in the fall before storage.

Hope this helps.

hood rust

My sons 2001 F 150 Supercab had that problem last year, Took it to Ford and they replaced the hood free. His truck had 95,000 miles on it. Check the owners manual.

Hmmm humidity could be the problem, but I can't believe how bad mine looks. It's about 4 inches long and 1 inch high. Looks like the paint is going to start peeling off soon. Thanks for the replies. Anyone know of an 00 that had the hood repainted/replaced after 5+ years by the dealer?

Its not rust, I think it is corosion. The problem came from when the factory staped the hood skin to the rest of the hood and the press was not make of the right metarial and it impregnated the hood with impurites. This is what caused it to bubble. The same thing happened to my 01 and it is a very common problem. I had mine fixed by my dealer for free.
