To anyone who's ordered an '01 L
Hye_Bolt
I just put my order in I got them down to
$30,172.00 I know it is not as good a Undy, but it is better than $32,020
I went to three other dealers, two of them wouldn't match that price. The dealer 2 miles from my house told me he would have to get back to me with a price, because there computer was down. A week later and a three calls to the salesman no answer. I don't know how some of these dealers stay in buisness.

if you know someone who has a fleet deal with ford you can get them very cheap.
i am NOT buying a 2001 but i know i can get them for $1500 below dealer invoice plus the dealer gets some kind of incentives when they sell the vehicles but the companies with the fleet deals get to keep them.i think he said it was like 26,583 for the final price.i have a restaurant so i dont have a fleet deal but my dads contruction company has one with a dealership in Jackson i think and i had him call for me and this is what he said i could get it at. he buys between 75-100 vehicles a year and i always my my FORD trucks through him.
just thought id let you know

Hey MOLL428CJ & DON C:
Just bought a 2000 in October at 128. They have a bad reputation but where anxious to get rid of their last one. I shopped around for awhile, nobody in MA willing to deal much. Tried Manchester NH and they were worse. Anythig less than sticker is a bargain around here.

I got that deal at Framingham Ford, I told them I wouldn't pay sticker, and I knew what the invoice price was, so they agrred to take $1700.00 off the sticker. That price was without the tonneau cover.
BOSTONL
I also went to 128 they have to be the worst dealer in the world, I bought my 96SHO from them, what a bunch of crooks. They had the ***** to ask me for $5000 over the sticker. They had a 2000 with 2100 miles and wanted $29,500 for it

My friend took me to his Fleet Salesman at Sunset Ford in Garden Grove so I could get a lower price on my 2001. He is in good standing there - he buys six to ten trucks every year, year after year. Still, the Fleet Salesman said, NO Way. Too few trucks and too much profit to give away.
Sign me, Still Paying Sticker, Still Waiting.
(Suddenly, "Sticker" seems like a good choice of words.)

I am kinda confused right now. Some people are saying they already have their Vin # and confirmation. Now, the confirmation comes from the dealer. I don't doubt the confirmation. But, there is no way people are already getting Vin numbers because Ford hasn't started making them or even projected a date to start the plant in Michigan. Someone please clue me in. Thanks
Hye-BOLT, I'm concerned, too. The "Vin" number is a short "F073 1". This is printed on a one page sheet that is titled, "2001 DEALER ORDER RECEIPT ACKNOWLEDGMENT - FD".
It goes on to identify the dealer, me, and the vehicle. This part gets down to a detailed price breakdown (noting the dealer cost as $28,327.50 and the MSRP as $32,020.)
Looks official but how am to know that's not an internally generated document.
Silver, by the way.
If anybody knows how to pin this down as a sure purchase I would like to hear.
Thanx...

Hey Don & Mark:
Had no expectation of getting a deal at 128, but had to try. They started off at 5K over sticker and I walked out. When they followed me out I knew there was room to wiggle. They wouldn't come off the sticker, but gave me 2K more for my trade than I could get elsewhere. Wasn't the best deal, but liveable. I am driving it this winter, but hope to use public transportation to commute to work. Found a decent set of rims and tires in the Want Ad. Hey Mark, any vehicle to go with your sig?

F073 is not the VIN number. It's the number that shows up on all ordered Lightnings prior to the VIN. I think it identifies it as a Lightning, nothing more. My VIN for my 2001 is 2FTZF07301CA44886. As long as all of the details is known about the truck Ford will assign a VIN, even before they have any idea when it'll be produced.
hey mol428cj
ya no one knows about me LOL.
I guess I will be driving the L this winter. I will be using the summer tires from my current truck as the winter tires for the L. I may look to see if there are some real snow tires that will fit the rims, but the Firestone GTA that are on them are M and S rated. and I drove my 93 Lightning through 3 winters with the same tires. here is a pic of my truck with the rims.
I bet they will look ok on the L.

Mega: Why don't you put your tail on a bus and go pick up your truck yourself, rather than pay someone else to be the first to drive your beautiful "L", who knows how abusively. That's what I've done the last two times, since my preferred dealer is a two-hour drive away from me.
