Talking Little snack before breakfast

I was heading to work this morning about 0530 when I came up to a light just before the intersection. I was sitting there when about a '92 or '93 Mustang GT pulls up in the left lane. He seems like he is in a hurry, so I think he might go for it. I didn't want to "provoke" him at that intersection, but figured I'd see how he took off and maybe catch him at the next one.

Well, light goes green, I jump off the line, he seems suprised, gets into it, I slow down to try to catch the next light, and he blows by me heading to the onramp. Light stays green, I attach to his bumper as we go into the big, looping cloverleaf style onramp. I am on his bumper like glue (about 5 feet) as he is obviously pushing his car hard (judged by the rear end sliding around like a figure skater). I stick with him tight all the way around, backing off just a bit to keep him from losing it.

The L was just hanging like it was on rails, bringing a big grin to my face as I hit the apex heading off the ramp. He was way out of shape on the outside of the turn with some fishtailing going on. He got it back together and I heard him hit it hard. I did the same (in a little better position a little sooner), and pulled around him about 75 mph coming onto the interstate.

I took the L up to about 120 (felt the shift into OD) and then broke it way down to about 75-80. He was quite a few lengths behind before he gave up, and caught up a few minutes later. Exhaust on the open highway confirmed that the car wasn't stock. He had some sort of short exhaust that exited just behind the rear axle. Don't know what other mods, but it had pretty good power off the line.

He eased by me shaking his head and gave a thumbs up. I don't think he had any idea what he was up against when he blew by heading to the ramp, and I think he really must have been amazed when he couldn't shake me in that tight turn.

Gotta love these trucks.
