Post Lightning flatbedded.....:-(

Has anyone else had a heater hose fail? I pulled onto the expressway a few days ago and at 3/4 throttle had nothing but smoke pouring out of the back of the truck. I pulled over a popped the hood to find coolant over everything. The Lightning was flatbedded to Ford. I thought at first I blew a head gasket. I found out yesterday that it was a heater hose. They had to order the part so hopefully Monday I'll get the truck back. Seems kind of funny that a heater hose whould blow at 20k miles....

I have heard of people having their cylinder head gaskets blown, even a spark plug blown out the cylinder head.

Yes, all this from one owner, he had both happen to him. Even his transmission failde on him, and Ford had to replace that too. He was sure glad to come across me, and wondered if I had any problems. I told him about htis site, and the intercooler, and how he'd soon be havin g a problem with that, but no otehr problems, except for a clunk.

I had a heater hose fail on me in my '66 Chevy, but it was probably 34 years old, so I kinda expect that. I commend anybody that hasn't lost their steam (temper) in 34 years.

Hey Jeff,
This just happend to me Thanksgiving day. I finished washing my truck and went for "dry off" high speed run, and at about 100mph or so it happened. My whole cab filled up with smoke through the dash and vents. It really scared me at first. Luckly I have friend with an auto parts store that opened up for me. Got some hose and a splicer and rigged it up for now. It goes in the shop Mon. Ohh well!
