Post Magnuson supercharger

I was looking in the new street trucks and I saw the ford f 150 harley piece of crap getting worked over. They were putting a new magnuson supercharger on the truck. They were saying the this will bring the horsepower up to 400 at the flywheel and the torqe up the 500 at the rearwheels.
What up with that. Does anyone know more about this kit. I know its only 40 horse but maybee they have a bigger kit. You would think someone would have a replacement roots style blower for the Lightning that would make more then 140 horse. I don't know I just want more power. I want alot of things but just don't have enought cash flow. Looking at some new 20's by boyd coddington and they want $844.00 a rim. I found them for 731 at another place but somones got to have them cheaper. That just seems like alot for that rim.

Hey RTKILLA
Go to the Magnuson site and check out their M112 superchanger. Pay attention to the size of the intake and exhaust ports. Can you spell increased volumetric efficiency. Now figure out how you will package it. (this is not a quiz more like a retorical question, I have the answer)

Magneson builds the blowers for Eaton which is what is on our L's. My 98GT has a SVO Eaton M112 Unit that was damaged due to piston failure. I took it to Magneson who repaired the blower with new rotors.

Both the L and the SVO unit for the 4.6L SOHC mustangs have the same basic unit, M112.

The Super Coupe, Saleen and the Buick SC'd cars run the M90 unit, smaller, higher reving unit.

I am sorry but please let me correct you. Eaton builds the supercharger model for the Lightning, it is a 112 unit (the Ford contract is with Eaton). Magnuson is the service center for Eaton superchargers. In their M112 unit they use Eaton rotors but it is their own case design. Check it out at their site and you will see that the case does not look at all like the Eaton. Magnuson markets superchargers too, again the cases are their design and they use Eaton rotors inside.

Just added a photo of the Magnuson MP112 supercharger.

Question

BABolt,

Sounds like you might be working on a project
including this supercharger and the new 2001
L engine additions. Could this be true?

SO if I replace my pistons, bore and stroke, port and polish the heads, get a new crank, new bolts, and new cam, I should be able to put a big a$$ blower on my truck no problem. Rick Anderson told me told change all that first and then get rid of the eaton and put a bigger blower on there. I was think a novi 2000 or a vortech ys trim. There would also have to be some more things I would do to strengthin the motor up but mainly those parts. I guess I want to know if there is a blower that is a roots style that can put out the kind of power like the novi or voetech. I don't really want to have a custom intake built, even tough I know a guy who can for a good price. I just think it would look nicer. This seems to be the new plan for the truck now. Rip apart the motor and build it up, then slap a bigger blower on there and have some fun. Anyone know where they sell new high performance cranks for our trucks. But then again If I want to stroke it, Isn't the 5.4 block basically the same as the 5.8 in the old lightnings. I just heard something like that. Could I use a high performance crank from a 5.8. Long shot but I'm trying.

I believe our trucks already have billet steel cranks and forged rods. I don't know what you'd replace them with that would be much stronger.

No offense to you but someone sure did blow a lot of smoke up your vent. The Lightning motor is very good to start with. Want to build a better unit go with the Cobra R crank a good billet rod ( you will not find a forged rod) and maybe a better set of pistons. You can port and polish the heads, I,ve had them done and I know the flow numbers. Forget larger valves and the cams too. Yea, there is some guy in Canada doing cams but wait and see. The only thing the 5.4 and the 5.8 have in common is that they are both motors. The 5.4 done with just ported heads and external mods and you can make between 400 and 450 rear wheel horsepower.
