HALO/ILLNESS clubs...Looking for advice
As fellows know, I have been doing a whole lot of 'interacting' with a plethora of sports/muscle cars. We all have a blast, and we want to start a club. There aren't enough Lightnings up here to get a chapter club, so we are going all makes & models route. I am hoping it will break the ice between the domestic sports cars fans and import tuners, as there a few that we meet up with each weekend.
A couple of weeks ago, someone said we should start a club, and then everyone just turned and looked at me. I dont mind being the guy to look at, but I want one, too, its just that unless I do something about it, its never going to happen. So here's a few questions:
1) How do you guys start up? We are pretty much past the BSing point, I'd like to have it up and running for next summer.
2)Need a non-profit business license? I'd think so, I am majoring in business, and that's what it looks like. This is so we can get discounts at the track-group buys on similar things such as k&n...
3)How often do you guys hold meetings?
I do know for a fact that we'll only get as much out of it as we put into it, just looking for some advice.
Thanks.

Tundra,
That's a great idea you've got there and I can give you some pointers but the fellow you'd have to speek with is Lightning Bob. Anyway, the way ILLNESS got started is Bob and myself were at a car show and decided to go racing one weekend, we made a few posts on this and the NLOC site and next thing you know we had about 12 trucks show up for this race. The second outing brought out 20 some trucks. We basically solicited any truck owner we could find and the way the races were setup is through the help of a local track owner who was very willing and helpfull in getting our bracket races together. We don't sell anything or do group buys so therefore we are NOT a business of any type. Have some people chip in and get stickers or shirts made up or even rent a track for a day or afternoon. With word of mouth and the internet you'd be surprised how
well this works out. BUT, you have to be organized !!! You'll need people that are somewhat responsible. People that can make it to your planned event and rope off spots for your club, get specific lanes/times for you runs etc. I hope this helps somewhat.
Good Luck.
