Yeah, all the clear or clear-related tails I've seen that you can get so far are 1999 type.

My question about that clear tile above (versus the one someone showed with the pics from the SEMA show) is that the middle is RED. The middle on a standard 99 is the REVERSE light, how does this light work for them?

I'm going to go Euroclear's for my fronts and maybe the 2001 tails for the back...if not, I'll just get that VTECH cover to make the rears appear as 3 lights...that was nice.

The thing I like about the Euroclears for the front is it converts our single headlamp into a dual-headlamp system (one lowbeam, one highbeam), so I can convert the low-beams to HID and still have high-beam lights.

A better (cheaper) solution for the dual lamp systems is to replace the lo-beam bulb with a high beam bulb. This just requires a little modification ot the locating pin with a Dremel tool. I've done this to my '00 Contour and it is amazing how much more light you get. I have been running this for over 6 months and never has anyone blinked their lights at me.

I think if you get clear tails, you're just increasing the chance of getting rear-ended. Clear tails, in my opinion, are very hard to see, and with today's young punks on the roads doing 80 in their little ricers, I wouldn't want to give them any more of a chance to ram into me, messing up the 'ol L. Just my 2 cents.

Our trucks may be built in Canada, but those lens covers no doubt came from SOUTH of the border IMHO. Don't mean to offend anyone.

00BlackL ... I wasn't looking for just more light, I like the look of HID's... but I don't want to lose the high-beams (they're a "driving need" here in NJ)... For just more light, the $700 that HID's cost would be a bit of a waste.

I'm thinking clear tails is just a fad that will lose its luster (for those that like it)in short order. I'd be careful about jumping to it as it might be a little silly in a year or so. Just my opinion.

Jim,

I believe that you have a 2000 L don't you? The 2000 only has one bulb for brakes and turn signals. The clear lens you show is for '99's with two bulbs. You'd have to use a little trickery to make these work.

As far a looks go, hmmmmmmmmm... Prefer the '01.

FordSales. to answer your question the red is a reflector and not painted on. i saw these at a local truck store. i have been looking for an alternative ot all clear tails. the problem about the back up lights is simple enough. just take the lamp from the middle and put it on top and make the middle position the blinking and brake lamp.
Anyone have a pic of these on a white flareside.

I have those rear lenses.

I placed them on my silver truck.

I didn't like the way they lit because the 2000 truck only had two bulbs whereas these lenses have opening for three.

It makes the truck kind of unique though.

I took them out and place the originals back.

I will just have to get the rears of the new 2001's.

Rice. Ugly. You'd have to pay me to drive something with clear tail lights.
