Post SS kills (pick your color) and Durango R/T learns the hard way

Hey F150onliners I posted this at www.svtperformance.com, its a cut and paste.

Its 37* degrees out, and I get off work at 10pm, weather looking great. My pal w/ a 'Y2K SS' comes around, we agree to meet up at the strip. We head out there, do our first lap, and I see dakota/durango headlights. They are a dime a dozen around here, but these are slightly lower than usual, so I let him catchup.

Sure enough, its a Durango, and even more so its an R/T! He doesn't want to play on the roll, so we weave through traffic and catch a light. I know they have full time 4wd, and that they aren't in my class, but the fact of the matter is, when they are sold, they refer to the Dakota R/T as a sister truck, then ofcourse the Ford Lightning comes into play. Well, lets just say it should be named Duran-goslow R/T. It kept up through first though, I have to give him that. Wait for the vids...

Then we see my Camaro SS buddy. And this guy from the chevy dealership, sporting a Black 00 Camaro SS. We chat for a few minutes, but see a Mustang GT. So we head out. He didn't want to play, so we try to catch a light. The Black SS loses us, so its just me and MongoSSe. We drove all over town, and decided to hit up the industrial part of town. Pops is with him, and gives him damn good advice, he does a nice burnout, then lines up. Playing with the camera, I realize I put in kirklands, and they are dead. My buddy drops his arm and we are off. Its neck and neck to 50, then he starts to inch away. We shutdown at about 80 or so and I was at his rear bumper. Good race. First time in a long time that it was neck and neck frmo the get go. If you want to see an (that one in particular) SS walk away, I have a couple from a roll from last week, still working on uploading them.

We head back to the strip. We see the Black SS, and he says he wants to run, but there's another 00 red SS that wants to play too. They talk to MongoSSe for pointers, and he says he walks away when he hooks up. It never happened. We catch the light, but no one pays attention, and I get a damn good launch, that race was over by the time I got across the intersection, and its on tape.

So we line up again, except this time its a little better, but not much of a race. We go chat and thats when we notice the red&blue team is getting onto us. I end the night catching a light with the black SS and get my jump from the go as usual but he can't catch up by shutdown around 85. Wait for the vids...

All these races were on tape, it should be a good week before I can get them up. I have been pretty busy holding team Ford on this truck's shoulders and all, I think I only lost that one race to MongoSSe. Noticed the red&blue team checking out our rides while we were eating, so I think my season is over.

Thanks for reading, can't wait to post the videos.

There was a good number of cars wathing us race, and one of them was a 99 SVT Contour, told them about this site. Hope you ladies enjoyed it.

Hey Tundra,

I'll race you in my F250 4x4, but first let it snow about 12 inches.
Did you ever get your truck fixed (intercooler)? The more I read these Lightning posts, the more I want to go out and buy a L. You guys are a bad influence. I used to cruise the strip; back when I had my 94 Chevy K1500 with 144 B&M supercharger. So I definitely brings back some memories.
Speaking of SVT Contours. I saw one at the Dimond Center a few weeks back. If I remember correctly, CWF wanted about 26K for that thing! Way too overpriced. Last spring, CWF wanted to sell me a '99 that has been sitting on their lot for 6 months. They offered to sell it to me at 19K, but I had a Honda for a trade in. So I was getting screwed on the deal. I was very tempted. But got the F250 instead. Keep the videos coming and watch out for the cops.

Yeah, I noticed no one posted a reply over there at SS central (Ls1.com). I can't wait to get them up.

It was very surprizing how I was treated by the other SS drivers that I never raced. I know one of them pretty well, and he was the best driver. Last July I went to a chevy dealership to check out the prices and sure enough, the salesman said he had one, and that his was not one to mess with. He was the one with the black one. And the other SS owner had his neice ask for a ride in someone else's car, for weight reduction, she tipped the scales at a hefty 90 pounds, so I told him he should be passing me around 70, if not by 80, there is a problem. Next words out of his mouth "Just don't make me look bad."

Well, the Lightning is the only thing that makes Ford look good, I kept hearing that all night. Maybe Tuesday fellows.

JupiterAk, yes, we were all travelling together, and it got to the point where there was a member from the red&blue team at every corner. One showed up just as a SS was just starting his burnout. Time to bring out the chevy...
