Question Winter Storage Questions

As I look out my window and see silver dollar sized snowflakes falling, I realize that it's time to put the L into hibernation. (Actually it's called denial, after the non-summer we just had)

Anyway, my tech. suggested that for long storage, with no driving, I should take the calipers off so that the metallic brake pads don't etch the rotors and cause shuddering brakes in the spring. I am interested in your comments on this.

My real question is: To remove the calipers, what size bolts or hex-cap bolts am I going to be dealing with? Just want to have the right tools at hand before I start the job.

Thanks for any and all info!!!!

I'd recommend storage in a warmer clime...like maybe Texas. I'll be very gentle with her. Trust me, I'm with the government, and I'm here to help you.

Tim,
Don't pull the brakes. The pads don't rest on the rotors. IF you want to be safe use some polyproplene sheeting (heavy plastic bag material) and place between the rotors and the brake pads.
