Question Anyone ever use Superchips in a vehicle other than a Lightning?

I just bought a 2001 GrandAM GT for my wife and I am looking for a little more umph I guess that is what happens when you drive a 300HP+ truck all the time. My question is has anyone used a Superchip in any other vehicle and if so good results, bad ones??? Thanks.

Cool

I have a Superchip in my SHO, and it runs like a bat out of hell. It was already pretty quick, but now it's much more responsive. I have heard from a friend that he experienced some "pinging" in his SHO, and I can hear something similar to that on mine, but it is barely noticable. Overall, I'm happy with the chip.

I have one in my wife's '00 Expedition. It made a nice difference...not as much as a chip in an L, but still the shifting is better and it picked up a little bit of power. It's probably harder to tell the gain in a vehicle this heavy.

My Explorers. Seems to help but didn't expect it to turn them into rockets. Can't tell you about anything else as I have a bad habit of only buying Fords.

I got one for my SVT Contour.

One thing I notice is that you need to step up the Octane level for any results. Stock I need 91. With the chip in my engine knocks with 91. With 94 octane though there are noticeable gains. I did a dyno with 92 octane and gained anywhere from 1HP and 1TQ to 12-14HP &TQ along the rev range. peak was about 7HP and 4TQ.

I would check the GAGT boards to see if anyone has used it on that particular application.

Superchips used my '90 SHO to develop their original SHO application (my SHO was pictured in their brochure). Biggest difference was that it opened the secondary butterflies to the short runners (V6 SHO's have 12 intake runners - 6 long and 6 short) about 200 rpm earlier than the factory program. Result was more low end torque, better driveability and about 8-10 hp in the upper ranges.

The development process was interesting to watch. I spent a full day with the Superchips engineers. They bitmapped my computer and then burned the raw chip. Then they used up a full tank of gas on the dyno, fine tuning the original chip burn via 3 laptop computers they hooked up in the front seat. I sat in the back seat while one of their engineers "drove" the car on the dyno. It was pretty neat watching the speedo needle bounce off the 140 mph mark while the car was standing still.

Put one in my wifes 2000 EXPY.
better throttle response, little better gas mileage, smoother idle, and it really makes the 5.4 scream. As for the rev. and speed limiters.....there gone!

To PRITCH & F150SVT......
I also have a "real" SHO ('92 model) that really screams top end. I would like to know if there is a "SHO" website such as this one?
Please email me: fcrawford@prodigy.net with any info that you might share....Thanks!
