Yup noob here,
although I'm not new to Ford. I've had my 2002 F-150(paid $15,200 with 67,000miles) for almost 2.5 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed owning it. In fact it was the first Ford I have ever owned which was a big step, the hardest of which was having to deal with the criticism from my wifes two uncles who are die-hard Chevy fans. Anyhow, the other day I was trying to recall the last time I put it in 4WD and I couldn't. Also after getting my GTO in Nov. 2005 I have only put 3,000 miles on the truck, so I figured why not sell it and get something that I could have a little bit more fun in.(BTW my wife wants a supercrew b/c getting one would be one step closer to having a child)
Cut to the chase, I found a White 2004 Lightning with 42,000 on it listed for $23,890 at a dealership about an hour away. It looks to be in excellent condition and drives very well. Basically what I'm curious to find out is if there is anything that I should be on the look out for when buying a used L?
Also I'm planning on trading my XLT in and today the dealer said they could do $13,700 OTD(started at $14,750) after trade-in on my truck which has 82,000 which is in fairly good condition but has a few paint blemishes(small marks in paint, steering wheel wearing). Sound good???

Go for it.... I traded in my Lariat and never looked back... If you do.. Get ready to spend money on upgrades...Its never stops...You will turn into a "Junkie" jk... They are alot of fun to drive and theres not other truck really like this truck... I sold my Lariat 6mos ago, and wish I could stop spending money on mods.... It s a Sickness. Its too easy to make these truck faster than most anything on the road. Keep In mind it's a truck, you can still move stuff around. Minds a daily driver..Look forward to getting into it everymornig for work.

I know all about Mod Money since I bought the GTO and Although I probably won't do too many performance mods I do have a list circling through my head right now for the L.
Tint, Retrax cover, weathertech mats, transfer my Sirius Sportster over, 2000 tails. We shall see
I also have a Homelink mirror in my 02, I tried to remove it last might but I could only get one A-pillar handle bolt off, and I also couldn't get the old mirror back on the windshield.

04 would be a great year to buy, and by then they addressed all the major know issues so your good there. The price is a little steep I'd call him back and tell him you found a better deal, if they bite tell them you need at least 1K more for yours and a couple of K off the L, then insist they throw in a nice wrrnty.
EITHER WAY DO IT YOU'D NEVER REGRET IT
