Question Remote starter question?

I was thinking about getting a remote starter for my truck. Does any one have any recommendations on what one to get and how will it work with the stock key less entry? About how much is it going to cost to have it installed?

Thanks

John

Well I would say to go with a viper alarm or even a avatel. Don't have one on my lightning but I did get an avatel with my supercrew. The only reason I did the avatel is because my buddy is a dealer and he got it cheap for me. The alarm works great and the remot starter works from about 2.5 blocks away. The stock remote on the truck isn't used anymore so forget that. The average alarm installed with all the goodies cost about $500.00 When I say goodies I mean like buttons to open and close your windows, start up, alarm, trunk but you don't have one. I would go with a viper 500 or 800. Both very good alarms. I would like a remote starter on my L, but my buddy says it might hurt it. Why I don't know but I take his advice. He's been doing alarms for while. I think he means the starter. If you don't plan on keeping the truck for a long time then I would do it. Fun toy to add.

I have a full viper alarm with the auto start on it. My alarm also has it where I can roll my windows up and down by remote. The whole system cost me $500 installed here in Oklahoma.
I love all the features, esp the auto start when it is hot and now that it is cold caus eyou can leave the truck running, arm the alarm go in the store and the truck stays running keeping the cab cool/hot.

Unhappy

i have asked about alarms working with the keyless entry keypad on the door and so far nobody i've talk to has been able to tell me that any aftermarket alarm is able to operate the arm disarm feature using the keypad (so everyone that has installed the keypads on the door be fore warned you can loss access to lose access to you new found mods) since you would have to disarm the alrm and then punch in the code kinda defeats the whole purpose doesn't it

you could get just a remote starter with keyless entry so everything would be on one keypad for around 200 bucks

What kind of alarm do you recommend on a vehicle without power locks or windows??? Would it be wise to get a remote starter?
