Question NGK Shopping woes....Will the real part # step forward??

Everyone,

I searched through the faq and got the 4177 TR-6 plug numbers for the NGK replacements. After visiting 3+ parts stores (NAPA, Pep Boys, Trak Auto etc..etc) They all told me the same thing "That isn't an NGK part #."

Am I missing somthing in the part #?

They all read off like 6 digit part numbers.

Any help is appreciated as I would like to get the platinums outta there.

Thanks

Go to http://www.summitracing.com. Pick NGK spark plugs as the manufacturer and type in 4177. I bought 16. NAPA told me they couldn't even order these because everyone was out of them (yeah right, there aren't that many Lightning owners :-).

Yes Sir! These are hard to get. I had them installed in my 1998 Z-28! So its not just a Lightning issue..laddy..These plugs rock! I picked up good power over the stock platinums. jw

Call Summit they'll have them on your front door in 2 or 3 days. No sales tax if your out of state. They have taken alot of my money over the years and are real good to work with.

I installed the ngk 4177 tr6 about a month ago I can tell you that there was no difference in response or drivability compared to the 12E's.These plugs are suppose
to be one stage colder than the platinums but on the way down to the dealership I was driving my L hard and started detonating slightly into 3rd at about 105mph because of the pro-m so I fiqured by installing a supposed to be colder plug I should have not had any detonating because it was barely doing it before. After install about 2 hours later I got on my L and was totally surprised
that I got alot more detonation beginning around 90mph I was not a happy camper! The power was the same though.Next spring I will
try the splitfires because I race with
IB fast alot and I personally seen his L go faster consistant times after he installed them.We both have wasted alot of money trying
to get the best setup and e.t. for our L these ngk plugs were not what I thought they would be I would not reccommend them.

Yea, what ibfast said. The throttle response with the spitfires is very noticable. The plugs burn so clean and even too. There's nothing like that nice tan color.

NGK has always been my plug of choice in sportbikes but it's something about the splitfires in the L that you just have to experience.

What do you guys think about splitfires with nitrous. the pics Andre posted, showed most of the grounds completey gone with the stock platinums. with the huge grounds on the splitfires, do you think they will hold up, or will more metal end up down the engine. anyone sprayed a splitfire yet?

MRBBQMAN,

I'll have to pass the torch on that one since mine is a daily driver.
