Question PSI in nitto tires

I just got my set of nitto 555's in. I'm wondering how much psi I should have in these tires? Their on the stock '03 lightning wheels. Tire size 295/45/18. If anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate it.

I have a set of 305's on my '99 and had the same on my previous '03. Just a tad more rubber on the road.

The '03 had 496/562 at the rear and I had the tire pressure down to 22lbs, just to get grip - still having to feather her out of the hole.

The '99 is close to 400/480 with JLP traction bars and I leave the pressure at 28lbs, again having to feather her out of the gate.

At 32lbs of pressure all they do is light up - if that is your thing? This does get expensive very fast.

One other difference - WOT shifts have a musical scraaaaaaatch with my Greg Evans at 28lbs as compared to silence on the 22lbs - they just grip and go at that air pressure.

The average mileage on the 555r's has been 8500 miles.

Regardless I haven't found a better bang for the buck yet in a great tire that grips (mind you always looking for more stick!)

Good Luck!

I used to have those exact tires and ran 45 psi for daily driving

and they lasted me a good 40,000 but I never did burn outs

If you are talking about regular 555's, I'd keep them at 45psi. They are only going to grip so well, so I try to get more milage and even wear out of them. If you are talking about 555R's (the drag radial) then you need to drop them way down at the track (15 psi) and heat them up real good before a run. And run them around 32 to 40 on the street.

all jmo.
