Hey Folks! I'm a newbie to this board...so bare with me/ I thinking about getting an 2000L, but I'm wondering if I should just hold off and wait for 2001L. I have read many of your posts about the dreaded front-end clunk and inter-cooler probs. Is it still worth getting a 2000 or would it be better to wait for the 2001? I really like the wheels, headlights and tail-lights better on the 2000's. I guess I just want to know if you think it would be wiser for me to be patient and wait for the '01s or are these problems not that big a deal in your opinion?

 

As I have already advised BLackBolt99, imo it would be far better to get an '01. It has a number of improvements, including gears and drive shaft, but the biggie is the improved intercooler. If you get a 2K you are almost certain to run into intercooler problems, and there is no fix for it, truly a royal pain.

Alphadoggy is right. Before I ordered my 01L, I searched the US for a 2000L. Then It hit me. The 2000's are great. But #1 I can't get one RIGHT NOW, and #2 the 2001 is sure to be improved. And about the intercooler, the only fix that is known of is the 2001 intercooler (and those aren't out yet). So, the wait begins, and my 2001 Black L should be in around January, or Feb.

Get a 2001. Lots of upgrades over 2000. And I'll swap my 2000 wheels with you.

 

FYI, Marcus, I spoke to SVT this a.m. and they told me that you can't retrofit the '01 intercooler to the '00. I don't know why not, its still a 5.4 Triton, but the intake manifold is different- might have to swap the whole intake, but I don't see why that can't be done.
And Azeem, I assume you're talking to 70mach1, I already offered to swap wheels with Marcus.

 

That's bad, I could of sworn that the intercoolers where interchangeable! Maybe they'll just swap the whole thing out. intake, supercharger, and intercooler. Or maybe the whole engine.

I'm not sure about swapping wheels yet, but like I said, you are welcome to my grill!

Thanks everybody...I think I will just hold off and wait for the '01s to come out. This inter-cooler issue seems to be pain in the a$$.

 

So what your saying is that if the 99 and 00 have the intercooler problem and they need to be fixed, the only way is to replace the whole entire supercharger assemble, or could it just be the intake plenum. Cause they tryed to fix mine and guess what it's back again. Get the 2001, but remember your gonna get those ugly rims.
