I ordered a 2001 Silver Lightning today. Filled out a sheet with sales man. He said that he can not put order in till 12/1/00, and if can or does go in before then, he will let me know. He said only opion was bed cover. I did not order cover, do to not wanting to slow down truck getting to me(problems with the 99 covers and 00 not haveing). I'm getting it for msrp, for good or bad. Can't wait to get back in something with real power.

William, were both playing the waiting game!! I put my order in for a silver 2001 minus the soft-top also.I don't understand why the dealer has to wait until December!!

Job#2 build for the L's start 12/04/00.
The dealer I wen't through took my money and sent the order in, in August. I called schedulling up at Ontario truck and they see the order in the computer.

I would tell him this and see if he moves on it. Mine can't get here soon enough!! Glad I won't be the only Silver flash running around. Good luck!

William,

It's been possible to put an order in for the '01 L since mid-July... Not sure what's up with your dealer. If he's this misinformed, you may want to consider another. Good luck!

Something is wrong

If Thor01 is correct about Ford starting to build in December, dealerships have been able to place orders in the bank for some time.

Find a dealership that knows what they are doing or you'll end up looking for another dealership to place your order again later on.

Actually I just got mine on order yesterday. After problems with 5-6 different dealerships in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area it's official. I originally thought I had one on order back in September. Supposedly I was the first one at this particular dealership. Nada, turns out all the dealerships were using a first come first serve basis. When they receive a truck they call all the people who wanted that color. Whoever gets there first walks out with the beast. I even insisted on putting a deposit down but no one would accept it due to the above reasoning. The dealer I ended up going with is up in Carrollton and an hour drive away (depending on traffic) but at this point I’m just happy to be getting what I want (knock on wood). Another thing I’ve noticed is, no dealership is allowing A-plan or X-plan members. I can’t speak for members around the US but no such luck in TX. This is from phoning 15 dealers in the N. Texas, C. Texas area. I’m sure it will all be well worth the wait in the end though. Oh yeah, MSRP is what I ended up paying.

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum. I've been a Vette guy for many years..still have a couple of 'em. I've had 3 or 4 mustangs before. I've always prefered Ford quality over GM. Enough history.. I've ordered a 2001L. I'm really anxious to get it in. I ordered it through SALOC at my local dealer. The out-the-door price at the dealer was $28992 with all mark-ups etc. I'm really impressed with all the L's stats and am looking forward to being a participant.

MikeP,

Sounds like you bought at Lee Jarmon. They got me my Silver 2000 ok but the Service Dept sucks. Just a heads up, but since you are an hour away it wont affect you.

Congrats everybody on the purchase, and welcome to the board. Undy, I'm curious, what is SALOC?? I got my 01' L for sticker, and if there is a way to get it cheaper, and I'm all for it!

SALOC is a sales agency that usually works through credit unions. They sell through a particular dealer at $95 over dealer invoice. In the case of the 2001L it saved me almost $4000. I also believe they have a web site.

Hmm, very interesting. Well since I'm off to my Credit Union right now to turn the papers in on a van we just bought, I'll ask about the SALOC. Hope I'm going to the right source. Thanks Undy.
