Post 80mm Pro-M

In the opinion of all you more experienced board users, would the expense of a 80mm Pro-M mass air meter be a worth while start on a stock truck. Also does an air filter come with it, thought I saw on an early thread some said yes, but couldn't find it. Will be going to chip and bassani when allowance allows it. Thanks in advance, great info, especially lug nut issue!

The Lightning specific 88mm plastic ProM was worth 22 RWHP on my 99 L. I had first added a superchip then the ProM, so I can't say that you'd have the same result on a stock truck. But I've talked to several tuners who say 20 HP is typical. I've also seen a gas mileage improvement of 2 MPG(if that matters). No reduction in drivability, just more intake howl.

Question

Does anyone know if a mass air can be used with a PSP filter? Would hate to give up Sals filter since it's only 5 days old.

KGM, if you do give up the PSP filter email me at yesuah@flash.net. I will be happy to take it off your hands.
TOM91722, Houston perf. said the PRO-M would give me 20hp over stock and they would dyno it before and after install. Unfortunatly my truck decided to start leaking coolant and developed a miss the day I was there and I never got a chance to go back. I did however post what they told me and got responses like "dont trust the person that sells the products dyno numbers, they can make them say what ever they want" and somehting else to that effect. Most people on this board feel it is a waist of money to by the Pro-M 80 because we already have an 80mm stock unit. I have not heard of the 88mm that Vette Eater mentioned, I am thinking it might be a missprint.

KGM, Sal here. I have a new MAF in the works for use with stock airbox or the PSP filter it. It's larger than the stock one, and flows a ton more. I still have to complete the testing with it, to see just how much it wil help. I will have pics of it compared to a stock one on the website in the next few days.

FYI, Heard today that Ford is putting a 90mm unit on the 2001s, along with different intake and intercooler.

I will wait for the factory part.

fast gator im only saying that for the money the chip and air filter are what i would buy before the air meter.i think i would feel a 20 hp increase but it just aint there.now if you get a bigger meter that flows more air it might make more hp but i think you can put your money to better use on other products.

Thanks fellas for your input. But Iam still confused because the July issue of Super Ford dynos a 99 Bolt. Baseline 346 rwhp and 404 rwtq. With Pro-M 80mm maf w/k&n and complete bassani exhaust 370rwhp and 436rwtq. Thats with no chip, can this be true?

Sorry, Caka is right. It's 80mm. And that 20 HP is real. Or maybe is a geographical phenomenon that only the tuner shops in Houston see (repeatedly). The stock meter simply does not flow as much air as the ProM!

The Pro-M setup with 80 mm official lightning kit which I have only seen one of, does not flow anymore air, it is practically the stock meter with some electronics, that lean the A/F out abit. Every other lightning with a pro-M, I have seen is using the pro-M 80mm race with the sampler tube (with modified lightning calibration), not he window sensor like the stock one and the official lightning kit.

I believe this is why some gain or 3 hp and other gain 20-25, is because people are getting different meters.
