Question Aftermarket alarms.....

I'm in the market for an alarm but not sure which to use...I'm thinking about a Clifford but I've read and heard they give lots of problems (my friend has one on his Accord coupe and hates it). I've read Alpine alarms are excellent to invest in...just wondering what everyone here thought.

Cool

I've got a Clifford Millenium on my L
So far I've had no problems. I had a very very very good installer. It is a seriouly complex system so you need an installer who is really on the ball. The Millenium is an excellent system. I reccomend it.

Thumbs up

Don't know too much about the alarm systems, but I read in the November issue of Truckin' where it was suggested that you buy the alarm of your choice, then buy a small seperate motorcycle horn and place it somewhere hidden outside under the truck out of the way, so that way, if your window gets smashed and the thief goes directly for your horn under the hood, there is still one more to disconnect. Also, having a horn located outside of the truck, will greatly increase the sounds of the alarm to alert people close by, or scare of the theif.

Question

Is there alot to bypass during installation if I go with a Clifford? Is anyone using a Ford Alarm system? Opinions on those?

I've had a Viper on mine for 6 yrs and have had no problems. They can be set up to auto arm so that you don't need to use the remote, which is great now that some thieves are scanning the codes when you manually arm.

I also have a Clifford Millenium on my Lightning and a 2000 E.B. Explorer. So far no problems and it definitely works. I live in a court and warned the neighbor kids about playing ball to close to the driveway and the Explorer told me they did not listen. Alarm went off and all the neighbors came out to see what was going on.
Kid's have not been back.

I installed a Codealarm Surestart LX in my 2000 L with it being so hot in Houston.Pre cools it when its 100 outside and warm it up in the morning. Kobiashi is right about the installer, if you get a good one you'll never have a problem with it .
