Thumbs up Lightning on order

Well, he's had plenty of time to post and hasn't, so I'm going to have to rat him out. Marcus (BLackBolt99) and I went over to Barber Ford today, and he put a deposit down on a black '01. We rode over in my truck, and I treated him to a couple of smoky launches. I think he really got excited over the truck after that.

Damn, George. You scared me. When I first read your post, I thought that you went out and put a deposit on a 2001. I guess this was your "trick" for the evening.

Just got back to the board, been busy partying!! As George said, we did go over and I finally put my money down on it. I'm soo excited. George, those smokey launches had a smile bolted on my face. You have a REALLY sweet Truck, and your boat looks great. I wish I could be in your shoes! Thanks for the help, and the burnouts.

Thumbs up

No, mark, I hadn't seen that article, but thanks for pointing it out. It's hard to find article about the 2001, and what's new with them.

I know what you mean, the wait is killing me.

See, Marcus, aren't you glad you waited? Better intake, better intercooler, tires with better grip, wheels that will accept the Brembo upgrade, Bilstein shocks (holy moly), aluminum drive shaft, billet grill, etc. etc. I know some of those mods, especially the tires and shocks, are going on my truck. I know you're going to be a happy camper, but now the fingernail chewing begins.

Did I hear wider tires? What tires will be on the 2001? All these new things are making me think I should've waited for a '01. Lloyd

Sorry. No wider tires. Has the same tires as all the gen 2 Lightnings.

Unhappy

Me sorry, made a mistake, same size tires but according to Ford's press release yesterday, Goodyear has changed the compound on the new OEM tires to make them stickier. When I have a chance I plan to go to Goodyear's web site and ask them about the new tires.

The Sticky the better. I'm going to need it to keep those wheels from spinning like yours George!!! All in all, I'm pretty glad I waited. The wait allows me to settle into my new job at this big insurrance firm in Simi Valley, which means I'm leaving eToys.com ( and that means no discount on Playstation 2) Oh well, I'll survive. I'll be working my @$$ off to save up money so I can put it down when the truck comes in. And plus, There are some changes that need to be made, the Grill has to go, the wheels are pending, either they will have to be chromed, or a set of chrome 00 L wheels will be put on, and I'm not too sure about those tail lights, they look like they have big potential on the Black that I ordered, but NOT the red. Hah, oh well, just ranting, Thanks for listening!

I think all Gen 2 shocks are made by Bilstein.

Question

You don't like the billet grill? I much prefer it to the egg carton. And I know I am in the minority, but I prefer the wheels, too.

No, the grill will defiently go when the Truck arrives. You're welcome to it if you'd like. I will be ordering a grill like sixpipes (I believe it was his truck). The wheels I will have to see up in person to make a decision on if I'm going to keep them and chrome them, or trade them for 00L chrome wheels. I was/am Supposed to drive up to the SEMA show tonight, but I have a work metting on Friday morning, and If I drove to SEMA, 1 day isn't enough for me. I really wanted to see the 2001 L up close for the first time. Also wanted to check out the competition (Silverado SS & Coolside II).
Maybe next year SEMA will be on my things to do list.
