DOES YOUR WINDOW GO CLUNK, CLUNK, CLUNK?
If your window clunks when it goes up and down heres the deal. Ford windows have what is called a regulator which is the bracket pulley, wire rope, and a spring on the end of the wire rope. The pulley turns, the spring holds tension and the window goes up and down. What happens is the tracks for the window in front and back get dry. The window hangs up, the spring streatches and the wire comes out of the pully track and whamo. $300.00 for someone to replace the regulator. My racing sponsor has a shop and every time I go in there (3-4 times a week) they are replacing someones ford product window regulator.
I asked what one could do to keep this from happening. I've already had one fixed under warranty myself. ANSWER--Buy spray can of LITHIUM grease, made by Gunk. Spray in front and rear window grove(track) of each window every coulple of months. This will keep the window from hanging up and streatching the spring which then lets the cable slack and get out of the pulley groove. This is a FOMOCO problem on all their vehicles from the Lincoln on down.

Mine clunks every once in a while when it reaches the top (just closing). This what you're talking about??
Last trip in for service, asked for it to be looked at. The window obviously wouldn't do it for them. Do you think in all their infinite wisdom, they would do anything about it? Not on your life!!!!

Just bought replacement fog light, install it and notice the other one is cracked. Was in coin wash yesterday, hit the light with water, like has been done countless times , and PLINK, the glass shatters onto the floor.
Arrrggggghhhh!!!

Thats a good idea but all the tech did I watched was use the plastic tube that came with the can and spray down in the door and all the way up and then run the window a few times. The glass will pull the lub down in the track.

If either window makes ANY noise at all, then the regulator is faulty and needs to be replaced. It is not quite as simple as it sounds because the linkage is riveted together and must be drilled out and repaired again after the regulator installation. Figure two hours for an inexperienced Ford mechanic. The good news is that it is covered by warranty. I think a good case can be made for replacement even by those of you who are technically out of warranty. Any Ford dealer can do the repair.

It's all riveted together. The center track has four rivits and there are rivets thru the glass which also have to be drilled out and then new rivets installed. A pro can do it in an hour. You and me, if you have the proper rivets probably 3 hours. Ford only part so the price is probably impressive. Comes in a nice big ford box. est at retail 150.00. As the old saying goes a squirt of provention is worth a pound of the cure.

My window did this and I hade them fix it. A new window "motor" was installed. It quit making the little clunking sound, but they must have put a stock F-150 motor in it because my other window goes up alot faster. Maby the L window motors have a little Eaton on them or something. Oh well, I gues she goes back in the shop (again) for a new "supercharged" window motor.

Noelvm that funny that you bring this up. I was just getting ready to ask if anyone had the same problem with their windows. I just got my truck back from the shop again. They had to replace the motor for the window and i have to go back in again to have them replace the regulator. They also had to fix the front end clunk, and my driver seat had to have a new track and motor put in because it was moving. all this took another week, and was the second time i brought it in on all of the above. Isn't the lemon law 3 times for the same problem and if thay can't fix the problem you get a new vehicle? Also has anyone else had a problem with their seats moving? Just woundering if i was the only one.

My L does it now and my 91 T-bird SC did and was replaced two times both under heading Ford pays the bill. I sure hope the spary doesn't mess up my window!!!!
