Doug,

Talk to Chris Carlstrom at Bankston Ford. He is THE paint guy. Chris has done a LOT of cool custom paint jobs before and he does it RIGHT...which means he's not cheap, but when it comes to this stuff you really do get what you pay for.

He had moved away when I had my LX painted about 2 years ago, or he'd have gotten the work. The shop that did my car got bought out, but I went with them b/c I'd seen a number of street rods they'd done that were very nice. I have not had any work done by the shop that bought them, or I'd recommend them to you.

The more car shows you go to, the more you'll be able to find reputable shops. That's how I found the shop that I went with to do my LX. It wasn't cheap at all, but the job was done right and I now have a show quality paint job that looks 3 feet deep. I wouldn't settle for less on my truck...except it gets driven a lot more, so I'd hate for the high-$$ paint to get nicked up during highway driving.

Warning, I bought a Mystic Cobra new, and I couldn't stand it after a while. "Dyyyuhh huh huh...yo!...Hey!...Man!.....what color is that anyways?!?!? green or purple???....duhyuhuhhhh-huh-huh!". After about the 389th time you hear that being screamed at you at a stoplight, you want to punch somebody, and then you want to abandon the car in the woods and torch it. Well, at least that's how I felt. Man I hated that car! It went in on trade when I got my Saleen....in simple BLACK. No more hooptie colors for me.

Thanks Wes.

69 Boss - What I had in mind was custom accents over the stock silver. Have someone wet polish the whole thing to get rid of orange peel, then fix the dings then over paint with Mystic silver in a custom pattern that would be ghostish over the Stock silver, then finally apply clearcoat to Wes's 3 foot standard

There is a multiple color Rousch Mustang around here, and I love it. I couldn't drive it myself (b/c I'd get tired of the color), but It looks great. Also, speaking of "Ghost" paint jobs. I've seen a few Flame jobs done on trucks in the Ghost paint. Looks awesome. You see them drive by, and as they turn the corner, or move into a differnt shade of light, the flames appear. I'm thinking about it.

Doug,

Chris has done a number of "ghost flames" or "ghost stripe" jobs. What is really cool is the stuff he can do with pearl in the clearcoat. In different light, especially at night, it can have a really cool effect.

Yeah, color sanding b/w each base coat and clear sanding b/w each clear coat really does make a huge difference. I do not have the know-how or the skill to attempt this myself, however, so I just have to take it on the chin and pay someone when it comes time to do custom body work.

Post Mystic Lightning

Has anyone had one of those mystic paint job's done to their lightning?

You know, one of those color shifting paints.

If any one has please post pics...or if anyone has thought about it or priced it out let me know.

I think it could look really sweet!

I have been considering a custom paint job for a while and did some research on the prism paints. They are like $300.00 a pint but they look great.

I just havent met anyone I trust well enough to apply liquid gold to my truck

From what I have been told by PPG (originators of mystic colors @ $1400-1700 a gallon) They now have come out with 9 different colors of mystic-(Our 4 colors included) that are now affordable in the $350-$475 a gallon range.
Something to look into.
OR- You can have pearl mixed into clear and shot over your existing clear coat to match your color that changes when the light hits it.
