Question ? for AIRAID owner's

I just installed my airaid system today. Are most people taking off the side piece to the box? I was going to try taking off the front and back panels, or maybe just the front. What's the hot setup for this system?

I took the off front first. Then after a few miles, I went back and took off the rear. Taking off the panels makes the blower scream BUT with the plates off, my guess would be that the sensor will not work properly.

Can any experts out there confirm or deny this thought??

I just installed JohnnyLightning's Ram Air Kit.

The AirAid with the Big Mouth Filter gave a louder blower scream but I'm hoping the Ram Air will produce more performance?????????

JohnnyL seems to be doing well with his set up at the strips.

Regarding the sensor: Not knowing about the PSP but the JL Ram plugs the sensor between the filter and the TB. The MAF plugs into the end of the filter

CSVT150 - I recently installed an Airaid system on my truck. I removed the front cover. I did not remove the rear cover so that I wouldn't draw hot air from the engine. Mine works great and I also installed an S+B filter. Mine makes 10 pounds of boost now!
I installed the Superchip R9 program also and let me tell you, those two mods together are great! Do yourself a favor and unhook the boost-dump sensor, trust me on that one! :-)
Good luck in your choice!

Ryan2KRedL-I have the R9 on my desk ready to be installed. Why should I unhook the boost-dump sensor? What and where is it?

I took the front off mine when I installed the JL Ram Kit and I love it. I didnt take the back off because I figured that would just allow hot air from the engine in and would negate the ram air benefit. I figure the Ram air was good for .1 sec at the quarter mile. Here were my 2 e.t. times taken on the same night, 1 hour apart

JL Ram air---------- Ram Air disconnected

60' 1.922----------- 1.907
1/8 8.458------------ 8.481
1/4 13.209 ---------- 13.336
MPH 103.48 ---------- 100.64

As you can see, I got lucky and had a better launch without the ram air (of course that was just my driving, nothing to do with ram air) but as the ram air kicks in, I got faster. I was hoping on getting down into the high 12s but no dice, maybe when the motor breaks in a little more, only have 3,500 miles on her. Jeff
