I have a friend with a very clean, unmodified, 2000 with 2500 miles on it and the asking price is at $24,000. Any takers??

I sure hope some of these killer deals will be around in Febuary. I am not eligible for a pre comissioning loan until 6 months out and I commission at the end of June. I want an L badly, but don't know if I can swing the payment on a new one. I would rather save a couple grand and put that in to the truck, but it would have to be one from a good home.
Also, if I bought an 01 I would have to retro the tail lights, don't people understand CLEAR=FRONT RED=BACK. Now I admit if a chick had **** on her back it would be amusing but it would also be confusing and down right wrong!!!!
Anyhow, kind of got off the subject there.

I myself would not buy a used Lightning now due to the fact that the used car loan rate would more than make up for the higher price being paid for the new truck - assuming the new truck is bought at a fair price. If the vehicle price was down around $18,000 then I would consider it.

I have the oportunity to get $20,000 at 3.9 percent because I will soon be a comissioned officer in the USMC. This is for any vehicle valued at over $20,000, new or used it is the same rate. So my thinking is take the money and run, I should be able to come up with $4000 or so by April-May therfore I will be $2-4000 short of a Lightning. Maybe my grandfather would be nice enough to help me out.
Anyway, if there is anyway I could convince them that my 89 Mustang was worth $20,000 then I would take the loan and remove my dad's name as the other name on the title for a dollar, and use the remaining $19,999 dollars to completely redo the stang. But I would still need a reliable vehicle that was very dependable which is what I hope my Lightning will be.
Opinons?
