New whipple S/C, what caused the failure in the first ones produced?

I read that a few of the first produced Whipples failed. The ones that they are currently producing (not the works or older model blowers)

what caused this?

I think they were locking up?

Did Whipple cover them under warranty?

Thanks for the info!

I think it was a rotor contact issue. If I recall, it was from case flex, from the first run base plate. The current ones have a thicker baseplate, and also the snout support and I have not heard of any failures.

And for what it's worth, I have one of the "first" design new blowers on my motor, and have not added the snout support, and still have not had any problems. I also run well over 20psi on mine.

I worked with Whipple on their initial run. The rotors were causing problems. They changed the timing on them as well as the coating. The base plate being billet was changed also. The snout brace also came out as a suggestion from myself and screaming01L. Let's see if they ever come with the 2.6 Whipple now.

well I know of another Whipple that has failed. It was one of the first 10 ever produced, and WHippleis not going to cover it under warranty.
It's not even a year old and it's a $4,000.00 supercharger.

so I'm guessing there was a design flaw.

If this is true, whipple can go f*ck themself

I know when the KB's first came out there were some problems, but they stood behind them and replaced any that failed. My KB stared sucking in the oil after about 2 years, and KB fixed it for me free of charge.

If they are a stand up company they should step up and replace any units that fail.

This is what I thought KB would do for me. Yeah right. I have a KB 2.3L second owner a year and a half old blower with maybe 5500 miles on it and it sucked all the oil out of the gear box but I had to pay for a rebuild. I just got the blower back on Mon. when I should have gotten it on last Fri.. Got the truck in today for a tune first pull blower locks up. So far KB's customer service sucks. Now I got to deal with them again this Mon. To me KB hasn't stepped up to the plate or stand behind their product.
