Cool

Picture of Moonshine and a Generation I qualifying yesterday in Top Truck. Conditions were cool and damp and the track was pretty sloppy in the afternoon sessions. I managed to get there early and got in a couple of runs before the rains came with a new best of 13.085@105+mph. More pictures at the following link:

That's an awesome time, Moonshine! Whoo-hoo! Just goes to show what some cool air will do. You picked up some serious power going from 103.xx just 3 weeks ago to over 105. That's outstanding.

Wish I could've been there this weekend.

Wes -

The 13.085 was my time from the two morning runs I made. Moonshine and Autothrottle qualified after the track got messy and weren't able to set best times.

Sixpipes
Glad to hear you ran sooooo good. Thats a outstanding time.
Ya moonshine and I got on the track about 1:30 or so and it was terrible. I only got to run once for $70. The place was a zoo...
The one pass I made I lost a little traction out of hole but still managed a 13.2....
Not too bad for the way the track was.

Hey Sixpipes did you get to make another pass after that guy hit the wall?

I know one thing I will never go to Fun Ford again.
I think we need to find out when Hallsville closes so we can make another trip before the end of the year.
Is anyone up for this????????

Thumbs up

Sorry I missed all of y'all. I didn't race, just watched for a while on Saturday. The whole setup seemed pretty unorgainzed, but it was good to see some of y'all make some strong runs in the cold.

Cool

I did finally get to run after about 30 minutes of waiting for the maintenance crew to pick up Mustang pieces/parts off the track. I found out after I signed up for the Fast Ford class that it allowed electronics so guess what. The Mustang I raced hit his dial exactly at 10.38. Even though I beat him on the tree, he made up more than enough on his dial to beat me. I ran a 13.231 after breaking loose (I guess the spirit of Silver 2000 was with me too) at the start (1.988 60'). Win or lose I was going home anyway.

I am glad I showed up early and got the two runs in before it started raining. It is very difficult to know what to dial in with when 7 hours has elapsed between qualifying and eliminations and the temperature, wind, and track conditions have changed so much.

I would definitely like to make Hallsville again before it closes. I'll probably have to come up with some new tires before we go because I am at the limit with the F-1s for sure. Post if you find out the fall schedule.

Lets see.
$70.00 fee
Only 2 practice runs.
Electronic & no electronic mixed together
Eliminations 7 hours later.

"Fun Ford Weekend???????????????"

Sounds about as much "fun" as a leaking intercooler.

Noel -

For the record;
1.) I paid $50 for the day (spectators pay $30).
2.) Rain delay for three hours screwed up the schedule.
3.) My stupidity put me in the electronics class.
4.) Nobody said it was fun.

On the bright side;
1.) I did set a new best ET.
2.) I did get some nice photos.
3.) I did meet some nice people.
4.) I found out that spectating is not all bad when there are some awesome vehicles to watch.

Sixpipes, I keep forgetting to ask what you are using for street tires these days? There can't be much left of the factory F1's!

You're right, there's not much left of the tires that's why Go rila's been staying in the garage most of the time. New tires and wheels are coming, but it is taking me some time to accumulate the funds without the Mrs. asking questions. That's one thing most of us Lightning owners have in common; fear of the little women finding out how much money we're spending on our trucks.
