Unhappy Kaboom!

Well, I guess my luck just ran out ...

Blew up the engine when the serpentine belt failed on New Circle Road ...

Bent valves, timing "jumped", Cylinder heads over temperature, and a whole bunch of other stuff

CRAP !!!

Exactly what I was thinking, but I've never heard of one of these timing chains breaking. Perhaps there was some type of binding that took out a few teeth on the gear, screwed the valvetrain, locked up the motor and the sudden stoppage of the internals put too much stress on the belt and shredded the serpentine belt.

I've drove a vehicle once that shredded the serpentine (debris from road) no problems, just had to replace the belt.
I shredded the s/c belt on my truck a few times, no problems.

Damn that sucks.
I bent 2 valves because the ceramic on my denzo’s cracked off, also scored the piston wall.

Cliff,

Sorry to hear that. How many miles did you have on the motor?

At 75,000 miles I ran across a deal on a built motor and jumped on it. I knew I was living on borrowed time pushing 480 HP with that many miles.

Good luck to you getting Christine back on the road.

Sorry to hear about this Cliff.

If that happens to me, this is what I'm doing along with the T-6060 Tremec from the GT-500

Would be a nice combo. for the road course.

Woah, how'd the belt cause all that? Overheat?
