Arrow Intercooler *LEGAL ACTION*

Its been over a week and I am very upset! I know there has been alot of I.C.s replaced already, but I think its time to take legal action against Ford. I am going to be very patient with this. I figure Oct. 31 is the dead line. If my truck is not fixed by then I am getting an attorney. What can be done legally at this point, I am not sure.

For now, this is my plan. Being that Ford knows the I.C.s are bad, I dont know if a petition would help at all. If I could PLEASE have a list of all of the people on this board with the "temporary" fixes or if your truck is currently in the shop for this specificaly. Please post your name, build number and build date. Then after this info is gathered I will later be asking for everyone to email me a personal letter from you to Ford with specific complants or whatever else. I will compile a big folder and email and US mail it to Ford, and SVT. Thanks!

If you dont feel comfortable posting your name on the board, email me. yesuah@flash.net

If anyone wants to give me input on this issue, please do. Any better ideas?? And no I am not doing a search for all of this info, unless I absolutely get no response from anyone. If you feel this is a waste of your or my time, please let me know. Thanks again!

sounds like a good idea. maybe enough stink and ford will recall all them. i would like to see if bad ones are falling within a certin build or not. my 99 has 12k with no problem yet. the 00 isn't broke in yet. i think its a good effort. ford seems to let things go until they are forced to do something.

I am not sure legal action will do anyone but the lawyers any good. From the Firestone debacle, it's pretty clear that Ford isn't as afraid of lawyers as it is of newspaper stories.

IMO. we need to turn this into a PR campaign and embarass Ford into admitting there is a problem and dealing with it.

Everyone should report their I/C failures to NHTSA. It's not really a safety problem, so NHTSA won't give a rat's patoot, but lots of people scan that database for problems.

We should write letters to the enthusiast rags and Ford management, and get something about the problem on Blue Oval News.

If Ford doesn't own up to this problem, it is going to be a multi-thousand dollar mess for all of us long term.

Let's kick some Ford butt.

CAKA,
Legal actions against people like ford take an average of three years to bring to trial and an additional 1-2 years for each appeal. Very few attorneys are interested in these types of cases unless you are willing to pay their costs as you go. Are you ready to pay? In the end you probably would get anything anyway. As long as ford is replacing the intercoolers for free so you are really not out anything. And believe me if you have a replacement intercooler and it goes out over 30K miles, if you go in and raise he**, they will replace it too. I got three free brake jobs on my 93 L, two after 30,000 miles.

I wrote a letter to the publisher of Blue Oval News, and sent along a link to this topic. This is what he wrote back with,
"To be honest we have not had complaints about this problem. We'll look into
it should we start receiving complaints. We have not heard anything from
anyone at Ford either. Not to say that there is NOT a problem, but it's all
quiet here in Dearborn.

Robert
BlueOvalNews.com"

So maybe we don't need a lawyer, just a louder voice, or better yet, more voices to speak out against the faulty intercooler, not just on this Message board, but to someone who can do something about it.

Sure they are replacing them for free, that's good, but that's not great. What happens when the replacement fails? I'm guessing that they are part of them same faulty line of intercoolers.

With all these IC problems people have had/are having that Ford won't fix in a "timely" manner, it sounds like trade-in time to me if mine starts leaking.

10.7k miles, no problems, but with fingers crossed.

Well I knew "legal action" was a bit out of my league, but this totally stinks. Just out of curiousity I called my extended warr. to see if there is a maximum amount of days for my rent car and there is, six days per claim. It seems my service manager only got me approved for two days and I have been in this Dodge Neon for ten days now. There is no way I am paying for that!! I talked to the service manager today and he sayed the dealership would go ahead and pay for it through this weekend, but come Monday who knows whats gonna happen. I am gonna request to drive my truck until the parts come in.

Wa2Fst, I gave serious thought to trading it in but I cant think of anything I would rather drive. Maby a new L would work, or a Supra, or Cobra, or even ahhh well maby there are some options after all. But I just got the Bassani, the Perf. Auto. trans. pan, a case of Mobile 1, the NGK plugs, the new F-1 tires, Pro-M, tint, alignment and rear end OUCH BABY, VERY OUCH That hurts! Well lets just say I hope my little old L is salvageable thats all.

Maybe we need to all write to Robert at BON. I have had two replaced, on my third. The second one lasted about 2,000 miles.

Caka,
Whats the problem? waiting on parts. Why did you give it to them. I kept mine until all the parts were in. Andre has all the parts at his house. Why don't you just borrow his and replace them when yours come in.

Noel, I could not get the parts ordered with out bringing my truck in first, plus the IC was not the only thing wrong with my truck when I brought it in. I was unaware of Andre or anyone else actually having these bolts that I need. I did however post on this site and the HALO site that I needed help, so if anyone wanted to make available these bolts to me, they would have done so. Hopefully I will get my truck back Monday as is.

L2,

Not to cause undue paranoia, but take a fine sharpie pen and mark your fluid level(s).

That is how I found mine was headed south @ 13000 miles.

Just got mine back being replaced.

The first one I had changed at around 16,000 miles, although it leaked for about 3,000 miles. The second one at around 18,000 miles, and has lasted about 13,000 miles now. The plugs were changed the first time and O2 sensors were checked out to be OK.

Well, I have had my truck in the shop for loosing the coolant, and not a single thing has been done to correct it, nor the clunk for that matter. When I went on vacation with the Lightning, I had to refill the resivor twice. Around 600 miles per gallon. So add the 7-8 dollars per gallon of antifreeze (gas station prices) plus the cost of the fuel. Not real pleasing, and takes the enjoyment right out of ownership.
I should go to channel 2 (local Detroit) problem solvers and try to get this all resolved.
