Question Fleetside?

Has anyone ever seen a fleet-side L? I know they are step-sides, but what I mean has anyone ever heard of someone removing the bed and putting a regular side on? Would it be that difficult?

Will,

Yep, you trippin alright.. j/k

You COULD do it I guess. Just take a bed off or swap with an STX.

Don't know why you would want to but.....to each is own.

Question

I guess if you wanted to fake potential victims out big time....

But really...I agree with Jim....why?

IMHO The L is beautiful in part because of it's flare-side. No need to change it.

my 2 cents

Cool

I've been thinking the same thing. As far as I can tell it would be a matter of unbolting it and bolting on the new bed. finding a perfect bed the right color at a salvage facility would be the hardest part. My last truck (a chebby) I cut down from a lwb to a short bed. Where theres a will theres a way!

Well, for one thing it would be a 100lbs lighter, which equates to 1 additional MPH in the quarter. Those thick wall fiberglass curvaceous forms are heavy. In addition it would add to the stealth factor (not that most know what a “Lightning” means even after they’ve been struck by one). The big question would be does the flareside skirt molding work on a fleetside. I never went farther than guessing it wouldn’t. If the molding didn’t work, then I would think you would HAVE to remove it from the cab portion or it would look real dopey half and half.
