Post belt slip update

I have the blower belt slip and thought I could get a Goodyear gatorback belt to try and help with the slippage. I can't-- here is their response.. Thanks for requesting Goodyear Gatorback belts for your Lightning. The
belt you need is Ford p/n XL3Z-8620-BA, or Motorcraft p/n JK8-667. This
belt is an 8-rib Poly-V belt that is 66" effective length (66 3/4" outside
length).

At this time we do not have that particular size in our replacement line.
We go from 65.2" to 67.5", with nothing in between. I will forward this
request to our marketing department with a request that they consider
adding this size to our line.

Again, thanks for requesting Goodyear Gatorback belts.

Sincerely,

Clay Shepherd

I discussed this before, but I really doubt that you blower belt is slipping. If you are experiencing a belt slipping type noise then it is likely the main accessory belt. Sal posted that a new belt has been produced for those who've had this problem. Check it out at: http://www.powersurgeperformance.net...ML/000038.html

If you still insist that your blower belt is slipping, please explain how you 'know' this.

I'm assuming it is blower belt slippage. The thread from Sal looks like it is talking about cold start noises from the belt. Mine makes the noise hot or cold when going into OD after full throttle acceleration. It sures sounds like a belt chirp when this is happening. I thought I would just try another belt to see if it stops. I have had good results from other gatorbacks that I have bought for my Cobra.. if anyone else would like to chime in again on this noise please do..

ZorPrime:
Ever since i put the Gates belt on, the truck makes boost alot faster, and more (higher)boost to boot. runs like it has a chip. i suppose the Ford part, being longer and looser, did had some slip at supercharger.

Question

Lightning,

I would gather the part number is for the Gates as it does not fit Ford's numbering convention.

Zor and Dave,

What was your source for the Gates belt? and cost?

All it takes is 1/2" Drive Ratchet, pull down the tesioner and pop the old belt off and around the fan....put new belt on the same way you took the stock one off.
