Anyone Running Hypertech Chip?
I've noticed that of all the times chips are mentioned, Collin was the first one to say he had a Hypertech. I was wondering what they run like and the shift characteristics. I've got a good idea about the rest of the chips.

I can't tell you about their products for the L but I had some of their other stuff. I had a programmer for my 96 chev p/u and it did absolutely nothing for performance. I sent it back 4 times and 4 times they said there was something wrong with it and sent me a new sealed in plastic one. I tested it at the track each time and it neither hurt nor helped 60 ft, et, or mph. It did however firm up the tranny and recalibrate the speedo. I won't be buying any more of their stuff. Just my 2cents worth.
Hey ltnbolt, sorry it took me so long to respond.
The only reason I have a Hypertech is b/c it was free for letting them use my truck for development. I have done this many times in the past in order to get a free chip.
On other vehicles (f150, expedition, explorer) it made a pretty good difference especially in shifting. But for the Lightning, I guess they were afraid of blowing it up b/c it does almost nothing above stock for performance. And the shifting is left at stock.
They even asked to borrow it again to run some checks a couple months ago but still said that the L comes so tuned from the factory that there is no room left to tune....which we all know is not true.
I will have to say however that I also have a Superchip (CUX1TRAC) and although the way it runs is addicting, it will ping every once and a while and I cannot afford to have a blown motor.
So all of that said, I would prefer a chip between Hypertech and Superchips.

Hey Chuck, silly me...I just looked at where you're from. I live in O. B. too. On Germantown Road as a matter a fact. We will have to get together and talk shop or you can even try out my chips if you want.
Although I don't know if mine will work in yours since I have a '99. Email me @ crcarlock@aol.com and we can talk.

P. S. To answer your question, I haven't tried the R9 yet. I hear it is supposed to be great though.

Hi Collin,
Nice to "see" you here again!
Say, you might want to get in touch with us so we can have you try the R9 programs combination, I think you'd like it quite a bit.
If you try it and find you prefer the CUX1TRAC program you have now, we can arrange for Superchips to make an adjustment for you to CUX1TRAC, as we've got a bit more data on fuel formulations and adjustments for that now as time has gone by.
At any rate, give us a shout and let's go over this if you get a chance, as of course we'd like to see you be able to have the benefit of the additional R&D that has gone into making the R9 programs for both 1999 & 2000 Lightnings.

Collin,
Have you tried the R9 program yet? Thanks for your honest opinion about the Hypertech. I have a chance to get a freebie also but didn't know what to expect. I will probably order a superchip and take the hypertech just to try it not expecting much from it now.
Thanks.
