need opinions on break-in miles....
Great advice, please dont forget to know if possible,
Your oil temperature, before you go hard on any engine. And this should also relate to how efficient your oil cooler is working, thus making it sometimes longer before your oil temp is up and hot. For example, a BMW M-Coupe with the S54 M3 engine, even though its a straight 6, needs alot longer driving after water temp is up, to get the oil temp up. Just a thought.. DanF

I've always been told 500 miles and vary the rpm to break in the cam(s) properly, standard oil for the first 30 minute break in, change oil for standard again, run a thousand miles, change again for standard, at this point the motor is broken in and the issues have been resolved, let er' rip, after three thousand miles swap to the synthetic of your choice. I've used this technique to break 2 other high po motors with zero issues. Pretty much the same as Sal recommended.
