Rotating mass has a 'gaining weight' trait. The faster you spin it, the heavier it seems (or something). The harder it is to make it spin faster. A friend of mine has an Integra Type R, and his flywheel weighs 6.25 lbs. HE wants to upgrade his flywheel and get one that weighs 5.0 lbs or something. Once put on, it will allow the engine to rev much quicker, due to less intertia, and be more effiecient. I think he said between .1 and .15 off his 1/4 mile time, just from that 1.25 lb difference.

30 lbs is amazing weight savings, it doesn't have the diameter of the flywheel, but it has a larger weight difference. I bet you will notice 10-20 hp/torque gains, and .2 off your quarter mile. That is my optomistic estimate. Atleast .1 off your 1.4 mile time.

You will be suprised noe the less. Money well spent.

You are correct. Years ago I use to build up VW engines for my sand buggy and one of the first things that I did was to have 3-5 lbs shaved off the flywheel. The RPMs would rev much, much faster and turn a slug engine into a simi-dragster.

Shaving lbs. off the shaft just might do the same.

Cool

BABolt,

Stuart is great for fishing. I moved there from Ithaca, Michigan in high school and I spent many weekends reeling in big game fish.

BTW, great looking truck and driveshaft!!

Hey BaBOLT I will take you up on that offer. I will be in New Orleans next month and I have the gang with me for boating in florida on the way home. Work then play we need to get hooked up. However, my boat does not do very well with fishing. Two 600 cubic inch supercharged motors you don't even want to know? I will E-mail some photos of the fishing rig!!!
