Thumbs down Trouble w/Factory Stereo

I already did my FAQs. No help!!
Has anyone had trouble with the channels of their stereos having static in them with the stereo OFF???
My left channel is full of static as soon as I turn the key to the on position with the stereo off. Turn the stereo or cd player on and it plays FINE over the static. Any suggestions??
Please, don't tell me I have to take it to the "Infamous FORD Dealer"??? AGAIN, just to wait ALL DAY, to tell me "the parts are on order".
Thanks,

Sounds like a bad ground, but there are stereo experts here who can help narrow it down

If the FAQs don't have anything, try a search. I remember something about a chip causing interference. There was some product that someone claimed cut a tenth off of quarter times and prevented the static. I'll hunt; *I know there was something.*

DUCK01:

Was this what you were thinking of?
(Did a search for "volt", and then refined the search for "pure volt".)

Good Bull, Rick! Those are the ones. Check with those posts/posters and see how things are working out. May be your answer.

Question

Thanks guys for the responces. Checked out the posts then went out and checked my L again. The static is coming out of the LEFT Channel only, With the ignition in the on position not starting the engine.
Though my 4-way chip is mounted in the deleated-
lighter/power supply hole, Wouldn't the chip, if responsible, effect both channels?
And NOTE: This is happening with the radio/cd OFF.
Lord knows, if it's something very strange and never incountered before it will happen to me.

It sounds like you've got some kind of cross-talk interference. Look for the wire that goes to the speaker (I have no idea which one) and check to make sure no current-carrying lines are running parallel with it.

Just try moving wires around.
