Lightning With Mods - Lightning Without Mods
Unfortunately, after running a Superchip and Airaid Airbox for about 7K miles, I had to go back to stock configuration due to a bone dry intercooler, and the subsequent trip to the dealer today. If I had to drive an L without mods, I would sell it tomorrow. The differnce is unbelievable! I found myself hiding from a Dakota R/T and a Mustang GT lest I be embarrassed. I can't wait to get the stuff back in - I cannot stand driving this truck stock.
Tim:
It was just coincidence that the truck started running that way after the R9 installation. That was certainly confirmed today when I erased the program by disconnecting the battery, and removed the chip. It ran the same in regards to the slight miss at light throttle in certain RPM ranges. I suspect now that it might be damage from the intercooler coolant (fouled plug, damaged coil or whatever), in that there must have been some of that floating around for the reservoir to be totally empty. I am amazed that there is no idiot light when one runs an intercooler totally out of fluid, but I guess 30K does not buy much these days.

I just went the other way last night. Got my L back from the dealer with my new intercooler, put the oval TB, 80 MM C&L MAF, 10" AutoPhysics Bigmouth filter, and newly re-flashed to R9 Superchip back in. Took it out for a quick run, got on it one time (awesome improvement over my 5.0), a local cop showed up in the rearview almost immediately and started following me (don't know where he came from). He followed me all the way to my home which is outside of his jurisdiction, but didn't pull me over, whew! Took the L to work today, to much traffic to "test" out the repairs on the way in and it's raining "cats and dogs" here now so I won't be able to test it on the way home either. Good luck with your IC replacement, hope you're not in a hurry. Gotta go, there may still be some cats out on the road.
