blew the motor
okay i'm going to try to anwser all of you questions, first, as for the fuel it was 93 octane and i know this for fact as i fill a my family owned gas stations and
the fuel filter was new. Also, i wasn't just putting along, the engine was under load and was in 3rd not overdrive there for it was at about 3500 rpm but if i were to give it more gas it would have downshifted to 2nd.
I know it is tough to say it had a safe tune but the air/fuel seemed to be good on the dyno chart as well as on the wideband. No other mods have bin done to the truck since the tune about 6 months ago. As for the truck its self i'm the second onwer and have had it since 30,000 miles and was stock except for flowmasters, a drop in k&n filter and a jet chip (which didn't seem to do anything). I'm not going to blame JL's tune because he has years of experience to back him up also the dyno chart doesn't lie (which i will try to post a copy of later tonight)
The one main reason i was surprised that this happend is because the hp the motor was makein(360), by that i mean it seems like many of the people with moded L's on the forums are makein a lot more or at least 400 with 6lbers and their motors hold up. The second reason, is that is wasn't very cold out.
There is one last thing that is very important that i left out as well, my truck acted of about a week before when i was racing another truck, my truck bogged down almost like i hit a rev limiter but it clearly wasn't that. That was the first symptom, after that happened i checked the plugs changed the fuel filter, and since it never happened again i thought the new fuel filter did the trick. Next, a few days later, is when i heard the bang and it shot oil every where i guess i will have to wait till i pull it apart to see exactly what went on.
Then i will deside how i will go about replacing it.
