Istalled R/9 chip yesterday. First try won't start took it out cleaned conection some more try it again. This time it starts runs ok for a half-mile shuts off at a traffic light. People stop to help push it out of intersection, imbarrsing.Won't start remove chip to get it home clean it some more put it back in for the third time. starts up runs ok for 5 seconds, then stalls won't start.Fourth try, take it out clean it some more, won't start.Called Mike Troyer he says sounds like it's not clean enough, send it back to me and I'll check it,I try cleaning it one more time, won't start. I'm afraid to scrap anymore should I send the computer back to Mike w/chip. BTW installed pro m last week. Any help?
You have to tape it in .The same thing happen to me.I closed the door and it stalled.I reached up and pushed the chip back in and it started.Take the computor back out and tape it in .I did that and worked.

BigDaddy---I myself, installed a chip last week. Don't know your age, but, if like myself, the eyes are slowly letting us down. Now that I said that, I cleaned my contacts very thourghly (?) twice then three times. Still no start. Finally got a magnifying glass out, finished what I started. Truck starts and runs like a scalded ape. Getting the dreaded glasses. Hope this helps you.

Hard to believe how picky chips are to run. Had to clean mine about 4 times, (last two with the glasses on
).
Your case, does sound like she's popping loose and should giver a lil duct tape. (never leave home without a roll or two)

Bigdaddy, dig you bend the 2 upper tabs on the computer mounting bracket flat so that they wouldn't interfer with the superchip. The first time I installed mine I used tape. However in trying to force the computer into its mounting bracket so that the black clip would work below the chip, I managed to force the chip out a little as the tape just gave way. I had a no start condition. I took the computer out again, removed the bracket (watch out for the sharp edges up there), and flattened the two tabs that interfered.
Good luck.....
reality1, I always find it amazing that across the county two people like us could be typing the same thing at the same time

Big Daddy,
Clean it again man! Make sure to get between each of the contacts with a small screwdriver or similar tool (like an ice-pick). Make sure you gently clean the contacts but don't gouge them! Rub them with your finger and you should be able to tell the difference. Lastly once installed put a piece of tape across the chip to hold it in place.
Good luck man, I just installed mine tonight and LOVE IT!

BigDaddy - we met at Mccafferty Ford when we both were getting our L's fixed...
Just got the CUX2R9 chip also. let me know what you find out. when you say you will be without your truck for a few days, does this mean that when the Superchip is not installed, the truck will still not start ? this really worries me.
