My tranny is dead!!! :(

i was heading to a friends place about an hour ago everything was fine came up to the stop light and took off normally my truck shifted into what ever gear and the rpms went up but my speed was going down quickly almost to a stop so i downshifted manually into second everything was fine but when i put it back into drive the same thing happened i have no clue what is wrong with it. i checked the fluid level and thats ok but smoke was coming out of the dipstick tube and something smelled horrid.. so i called a trans shop they quoted me around 1200-1700 to fix it but they would have to tear into it to actually see what damage was done.. im so pissed..

anyone have any ideas??

Intermediate Sprag failure. A rebuild will be required.

It doesn't sound like a valve body issue to me.

Time to part exchange your dead core and get a BTS.

Mine shifts hard and firm yet still very driveable too.

My advise...get another tranny. Some guy had one on svt.com with low milage for like $900. That was 3 days ago. I'd check it pronto if I were you.

WOW!! You can get a rebuilt stock tranny for around $1150-$1700 shipped. Or if you have the money just get a BTS and be done with it, but they are around $3800 with converter.
