My tranny is dead!!! :(
My truck has been dead for over two years. You have to pay to play. Finding the cheap and easy way out is just going to get you into more trouble. Let her sit, save some cash and fix it right.

Just be careful where you go. Ask around see where everyone sends ya. Many shops will low-ball the price to get you in the door. Then once the truck is apart they say: "By the way you need this, this, this and that, oh and those aren't covered in the price I told you." Then your stuck because your truck is apart.
No legit shop is going to build a 4R100 the RIGHT way for $1200-$1700 with a converter. $1700 is getting close to a realistic figure but not quite there. Best of luck with it. Let me know if you have anymore questions. -Mat-

BTS and Factory Tech are both great trans.
Level 10
I have never purchased a Level 10 tranny although if my tranny craps out I may consider a Level 10. I think SWThomas is running one so I will be interested to see if he thinks the Level 10 was a good buy after a year or so. I have never heard of anyone having problems with a Level 10 until Don'sBolt's post but when I searched again, I saw you had some. That being said, I certainly have only heard that BTS transmissions perform flawlessly, it's only the price that is a drawback. I know I have spent lots of loot on my L so I'm at the stage of trying to control spending and $1900.00 is a little easier on the wallet than $3400.00. I have also been guilty of buying stuff that was silly, considering my goals (e.g. Ported blower when what I should have bought was a twin screw) so I would have to give BTS a close look to avoid laying out $1900.00 for a Level 10, having it fail and then having to layout $3400.00 for a BTS. However, if people are doing all right with the Level 10, I am not opposed to keeping $1500.00 in my jeans.
Don'sBolt, I would be interested to know whether or not Level 10 helped you in any way with your tranny problems. Also, what did the problem turn out to be?
Thanks

i replaced mine 6mo ago. the best deal i found was going back with a stock
4r100. i payed 2000 from a ford dealer and it came with everything it was
even full of fluid.all you do is bolt it up and it came with a 3 year, 36,000
mile warranty. that was the best deal i found. just my .02

As far as I'm concerned there is no tranny better than the BTS. You can save a few bucks by going with a FTMB or Level 10 but why take the chance? Like Skennet said above: "Finding the cheap and easy way out is just going to get you into more trouble. Let her sit, save some cash and fix it right."
I've been there and done that. I tried to cheap out by going with the FTMB which lasted less than a year. Then I had to fork out more money to buy the BTS which I knew was better to begin with.
Just look at it this way. Everybody who's been on these forums for any length of time knows which tranny is the best. Being the best means better products which cost more. Is it really worth the extra money? Ask all the guys who've been through multiple FTMB or Level 10 trannys what they'd do if they had a chance to do it all over again.
BTS is worth the extra money because you don't have to worry about anything once its done.
