Post engine falter when starting?

Has anyone experienced the following on a warm start?

Key turns, the engine begins to start up, then falters, but then starts successfully. It has never failed to start, but that falter before starting is troubling.

This has happened to me several times already, only on warm starts.

Any ideas what the problem is? I looked in the FAQ and did a search but didn't see anything that looked like what I'm experiencing.

Thanks!

Looks like a similar problem some of us are having. Do a search on throttle position sensor in the L forum. In short, you need to remove this, clean, and replace. Sensor is located on front of drivers side head facing forward. Only sensor there with a wire. Disconnect wire, remove the one bolt, and slide sensor out for wipe down. Replace in reverse. I have had to do this 3 times in 8000 miles. Anyone with a permanent fix or cause would be great.

what are you wiping away? Just wondering if some silicon spray would help prevent build up of whatever it is.

Shonut:

Aren't you actually decribing the CAM position sensor? This is the bolt located on the driver's side head and the one that causes starting problems when fouled with oil and other crud.

I only have 3000 miles on my truck. Has anyone taken it to the dealer as a warranty concern?

Mine just did it about 15 minutes ago. Only 4900 miles on it. Doesn't seem anything to worry about, shouldn't hurt performance right?

I've seen the same problem since day 1 or thereabouts. After 10,000 mi doesn't seem to be a problem.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I was thinking of the CAM position sensor. When I clean mine, there is no indication of buildup other than a thin film of oil. When I do clean it, it does solve the problem for a couple of thousand of miles.

Thumbs up

Interesting... my L started doing this with less than 2000 miles on it?! Thought it was just vapor lock.
