No Kidding

If I see 10 car lengths of free road I feel like I am alone on the road. What is up with all these slow vehicles on the road....

I think they are all trying to save gas by driving slow but as we all know us L owners don't know what gas mileage is!!! If we did we won't have gotten our L's. I just wish that if you want to drive slow move over to the right and get the H#$% out of the way. I even get up a 1/2 hour early so I can beat the traffic to work.

I hear you. The thing that really gets to me is when you have two of them on an Interstate Hy going the same speed, side-by-side. I will get frustrated and start tail-gateing the person in the left (passing lane) and they will give ME the finger.

...and for the last three days, I haven't had ONE onramp to the freeway to myself. I even drove extras miles getting off the freeway at several locations, trying to find one onramp without a car getting on ahead of me, so I could release some ENERGY.

NO LUCK YET...

Unhappy

I feel your pain, George. Just got back from Laguna Seca. Extremely frustrating driving the L. on the road. I feel like I am on a spirited, fast horse that wants to gallop, and I am pulling hard on the reins to keep pace with the herd of goats. Its not so much the constant left lane hogs, mostly I can get around them rather easily, its the CHIPPIES out there with their radar guns, especially the unmarked ones. There are lots of stretches between Soledad and Paso Robles, for example, where the traffic is light or non-existant and it would be very safe to open it up, but you don't dare because because of the speed tax. Its unreasonable, irrational, and driven solely by economics. I did let it get up to 80 in the 70 zone, and passed a brand new Ferrari doing 70. We gave each other the thumbs up, but I imagine he was as frustrated as I was. Later, past Gaviota, the CHP was running a blatant speed trap, with two black and whites and two scooters writing tickets as fast as they can. It was damn near enough to make me puke. Almost makes me wish I lived in an enlightened country in Europe.

Two weeks ago I got followed to and from work on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday, Tuesday and Friday was by the same unmarked Highway Patrol car, and Thursday by two sets of CHIPs (one would follow me a few car lengths back, exit the freeway and another would appear.

The funny part was that I was driving in traffic (heavy but moving 65 - 75 mph) with the cruise control set at 66 MPH. Most cars would pass me. Each day on the way home, the Patrol Folks would finally pass me, stare at me in disgust, as if I didn't speed like they had expected. I guess I wasted their time. But, why should I speed in traffic - it's stupid.
