For the last 4 years I've been struggling with my cowl hood staying open due to the extra 15 lbs. I must have got wacked in the coconut at least a dozen times.Where do you guys get these? And what am I looking for? Thanks in advance.

When I got my reflexxion hood it came with some heavy duty struts and I was able to get an extra set. Try www.sporttruckdirect.com . That is where I got them.

The custom hood on my truck was a Cervinis that was then modified. It was like 70lbs. I had the same problem. I picked up a set of Srong Arm (made by HELP!) from the local auto parts store, and they worked perfect. Even though they are OEM spec replacments, they are stronger than OEM.

HI!... When I bought my CERVINI's 3 INCH cowl induction hood I had the same problem. The stock gas struts wouldn't even keep it up. I ended up getting a set of heavy duty gas struts from a "2000" CROWN VICTORIA. They are the exact same length but a bit bigger in diameter. They bolt right on with no problems.

FORD PART # F652-16C826-AA

Thanks for all your imput. I was looking at a few that had the same length but with different diameters. I just didn't want the hood to "sling-shot" up either. Sal, you say these were direct replacements for our trucks, but were in fact stronger? Thats basically what I'm after. I will check out the others that were mentioned as well. Again thanks to all who responded to this anoying problem.

the ones chris sells dont sling shot up. they act bout like the stock shocks. easy install with just making one existing hole a lil larger and snapping the shock in. ive had these for bout a year and no prob at all.

HI!... The gas struts I gave the PART # for are a direct bolt on, no drilling required. They lift the heavy CERVINI's hood like the stock struts lift the stock hood.

I like that idea, Neal. What did you pay for them. Chris's struts seem real reasonable at $42.00

Cannot verify the part #, but fordpartsonline sells 2000 Crown Vic struts for $33.74 each.

Mondo1 I will give you my extra set. They were free to me. You just pay the shipping. I don't need them. The only problem is I need a day to dig them up.

Lets do this here is my email: r.seminara@***.net send me your address and I will send them to you.
If they work for you just send me enough money for a good six pack of beer.

Neal, I have searched all the part houses with no luck (they use the same database anyway).

Can you please double check this #? Thanks
