It Was lots of fun. Trouble is the Lightnings were faster than all but one of the other competitors, a Cobra R that Spun off the track. So since we were on track with Contours and Cobras I caught them quickly and we were told NOT to pass.
Cant beat it for free. Free Track time, Free lunch, Tee shirt, Cap, License plate frame.

I didnt get to see him run. But when I met him he had a big smile on his face so based on that, he must have enjoyed himself.
I got the chance to put faces to some of the names here. A guy I met from Richardson has almost exactly the same truck as mine. Silver, Snuglid, bedrug..... Forgot his name. Probobly because Nathan and I tried to relive the high speed road run from San Antonio, but the traffic and the fact that Davensa wasnt there to bail us out made us keep it under 120....

Double Yee Haw!!! That was some serious fun, especially for the price. Nothing like the smell of friction fried F1's to wake you up on a Saturday morn. Doug, I'm glad to see I'm not the only sucker to plunk down $35 for a digital pic. I was figuring you'd be showing the picture guy a better way to use his software. The only disappointment was the surprising number of Cobra drivers who were just out for a cruise clogging up the track. Think we could get a group buy on memberships at Motorsport Ranch?

I was goin to make some suggestions but his camera is like $30,000 and he was using Mac's. So in both cases he was outta my league... But picking the pictures was kinda funny....
Yeah I am driving the Silver Lightning.
Which one ?
The One With a snug lid.....
Which one ?
Ok The Silver Lightning, Snuglid, White Helmet and License plate on front.
There were 2 of us exactly the same.....
We ended up having to look at the numbers on the plate....
Email me your JPGS if you have em and I will post them

An SVT Contour waiting on a Mustang Cobra? I'm confused.
Had a great time, but as Doug mentioned, the Cobras were clogging up the track. I don't get it. We're on a closed race course and they're out for a "Sunday" drive. There was one gal in my group that couldn't even keep up with the instructor on the nose-to-tail. The Contours were even waiting on them. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there were fast ones, I just didn't encounter any. The only guy that made up ground on me was another Lightning.
Sixpipes,
Can we assume Jeff Gordon's job is not in jeopardy?

Dunbarton,
Don't think Jeff Gordon would stoop to driving trucks, especially Fords. But I do wish I would have allowed a Bondurant instructor to take me for a spin around the circuit in the "L". I have a whole new appreciation for the skill level of professional drivers after going around the coarse in a Bankston van (carrying 12 passengers) driven by one of Bondurant's guys.
Those guys can drive!

Yep, that was about as much fun as one could have with a helmet on. F1's smell pretty good when you cook'em! I think I will need a new set of ront rims however, not sure I'll be able to scrape of the baked on brake dust. Was glad three of us from Houston made the morning session. I think everybody should try this, these trucks are nothing short of amazing when pushed hard, kept catching every cobra in front of me. I second the Yee Haw!

this is the only time a car came close to me (i had just been black flagged because ford used $%&@#$ plastic fasteners on the intercooler heat shield and it came loose at speed)

this ones a pic at speed. unfortunately, I spent most of this lap waiting on the same contour pictured above. I was amazed at how the lightnings seemed to be faster than many of the cobras and all of the contours. I wish the event had been timed because I think the Lightnings would have been quite a surprise.

So we all agree. These trucks are not only good in a straight line, they're pretty darn good on a road course.
Alex - Enjoyed meeting you. This picture was taken as you were headed to the paddock.
Doug - You have mail.
