Well, I like the idea of a $40Kish Lighting. My friend just got a Passat, which, last time I checked is in a higher "bracket" than the Jetta, and while the interior is impressive for a VW, it's no MB. Oh well, I guess we all have different levels of pickyness.... Anyway, keep wishing!

By the way, we're having a So. Cal car run on Sept 31st, and you're invited- I'll post here with details later on.

Cool

Everybody has made great suggestions and I echo them. The only thing that I could add would be the dealer making payments option.

Great truck so far, but.....

1) All leather seating, Harley-like.

2) Better seats, with more adjustments, for us bigger types.

3) Non-squealing brakes

4) Side exhaust out both sides.

5) Factory warrantied chips and other upgrades. The PCM port is there for a reason!

LOL, whoops! September 30th. Excuse the slip up- this just proves I can't look that far ahead! My friend is organizing it- it's gonna be a big meeting of No. Cal and So. Cal muscle cars/trucks/exotics, whatever we can put together (no ricers please). I'm sure you'll be hearing about it on this board soon, either from me or from "Matt 00GT".

Thumbs down

Ok. I dont see why u guys arent happy with what u got. I just bought my lightning and god damn. I know that this a wish list but get real. Its a truck not a god damn ferrari. But as long as we are writing a wish list:

How bout a,
6 speed tip-tronic ferrari gear box
clear front and rear lights
200 shot
514 big block stroked to 525
and so on............................

come on. I think that FORD did a damn good job of making a TRUCK (notice the capitalized word) that can stomp the **** out of basicly any car on the road. i love my lightning and its the slowest car i own. i have a yamaha YZF R6, a 650hp blown mustang gt, and a little pocket rocket.

Im not trying to jump on u for wanting some extra things, i just think that they did good

I also agree with the guy that said they should give the fastest production truck a little time off and come out with one in 2005
It should be a 5 year truck like the cobra r.

My main hope for the '02 Lightning is that it will be parked in my driveway. If I'm going to get one, it won't be until then. Right now, it looks real good, however.

1. A manual transmission option, preferably a 6 speed.
2. HID headlights and driving lights, no glass lenses.
3. Stereo controls on steering wheel. Does anybody with an L. ever use the cruise control?
4. A better stereo.
5. Little bit more agressive exhaust sound.
6. More power is always nice, but losing some weight would be nicer.

The only thing keeping me from buying one is the flareside bed. How about an optional styleside bed.
5spd auto would be great.
A decent transmission for ALL Fords. (A must)

I like the fact that the L is a truck,so I don't want to wish it into a sportscar. Since more power is always desirable , and the fact that we are somewhat traction challanged then a would like all wheel drive. I prefer stick shifts but still don't see how to get a short shifter in the truck cab configuration, so the next best choice is some type of auto stick. Less tire fender clearamce would look better but without lowering the truck so much that you have to drive it too carefully over bumps. Ten and a half rear rims with rear tires wider than front. Bigger, better, more fade resistant brakes with slotted, grooved rotors.
Exhaust out both sides.
The engine power increase would come from the 32 valve
heads the Navigator. (By the way I just read in Autoweek that BMW is building an Expediion sized SUV with a 400 hp V8 and a 450HP V12.Both naturally aspirated They are seriously considering a US built pickup truck with the same engines.
Thats it for now. Thanks for the space.

SnatchBlownV8, Who said anybody here is not happy with what they got? A wish list is just that. You obviously didn't care to leave your Mustang as it is, did you? Besides, you can't complain, they are going to offer two things from your list(clear front & rear lights)! I'm sure most people here wouldn't have bought their Lightning's if they didn't think it was a awesome truck to begin with. I do think that every vehicle could use a little improvement, regardless of manufacturer. Some people just took this alot more serious than I intended. It was just meant for fun.

I was happy with my stock L., but I am a LOT happier with the way it is now. The stock truck needs better intake, better shifting, and 4.10 gears. These shortcomings can be easily overcome for well under $2k with a chip, MAF, and gears. These three mods turn a good truck into an unbelievably great one. Because of EPA constraints the factory probably can't offer a better intake/exhaust system, nor would they offer tighter shifting because too many people would complain, but they could certainly offer the 4.10 gears as a factory option.
