Question Valentine One?

Could any of you Valentine One owners post pictures of how you have it installed in your truck? One thing I am certain of is that I do not want to use suction mounts, and I would prefer not to have it in plain view where the fuzz can see it. Does it require a professional installation, or can someone like me who is somewhat technically challenged do it? After my latest close encounters with the CHP this weekend I feel I would be remiss if I did not get some kind of early warning system.

I dont have any photos but the install is easy. I ran power up the pillar to the center of the winshield near the console. I used velcro to hold the phone wire ( power ) up in the headliner. I use the visor clip and clip it to the headliner right next to the console right above the mirror. There have been posts about the tint affecting it but mine works great .... Mine is easy to pull down if you need to hide it... Just tuck the cable back into the headliner.... There is no good way to hide the unit unless you get the remote unit - It moves the lights down so they cant be seen.

alphadoggy - Here´s how I did mine

It´s back off the glass and it blends into the bottom of the console. Wiring runs along the headliner and down the pillar to the fusebox. By the way, use the remote display mounted down low to keep the display lights out of site. The remote makes the main unit run dark.

Hope that helps

I mounted my V-1 a little differently. It has been installed similarly in a ‘97, ‘98, and ‘00 Lariat, all have had the 5.4l. The “high-on-the-windshield” mount is absolutely the best and provides maximum range. Forget using the suction cups unless for a temporary mount in a rental vehicle.

After numerous experimentation’s, I modified both the metal “visor” bracket (removed about an inch and changed the overall angle) and the plastic “cradle” that clips directly onto the unit. The metal bracket is epoxied high on the windshield, under the headliner, between the driver sun visor and the overhead console. I tried velcro (wouldn’t hold), double-sided tape, rear-view mirror adhesive (too weak) before being forced to the stronger epoxy. It is a very firm mount and it can be removed with a razor knife easily.

Installation looks great, is very “stealthy” and unit is difficult to be seen by following drivers or other “unauthorized” personnel (thieves or police). The remote display is nice, but I didn’t need it.

I used a new 12’ phone cord and routed it behind the left windshield pillar, door moldings, and under the door trim to a hard-wire connection under the driver’s seat.

Valentine 1 is absolutely the best ECM unit on the market today. Mine has paid for itself easily tenfold. I would not leave home without it!
