Picking Up my L soon!
I am new to this board and this is my first post. I am the proud owner of a new silver L and will be picking it up on August 25th at my dealer. I can't wait. But anyways, I need help on deciding on a cap and bedliner. I got quoted for a duraliner and a Lund Cap. Are these good? I would prefer a spray in liner but don't know what is good and offered at the dealer. I need help deciding on good durable products for it even though I will never put anything in the bed. Thanks

Welcome to the board Darryl!!I have the duraliner and it works fine for me.I may either goto the bedrug or spray in liner.Spray in liner can be done but the dealers usually charge an arm and a leg to do it.You may want to look else where to have it done.My friend had his done for about 400.I dont know much about the lund cap,i have an ARE on mine.Do not be afraid to use the Lightning faq or the search button.
Darryl, I would go with the spray in liner. that's what I'm putting in mine. or if You won't haul anything, maybe a bedrug. Are You getting Yours from Oakfield ford? I know Forest Ford also has a silver one. welcome to the list talk to You later, Lloyd
a big WELCOME to you.

Check out the Bedrug I love it. I have the tonneau but for a hard cover check the ARE and Snuglid make sure it has finished edges and covers the bed rails. When the grin starts to fade some, get a chip oh boy! Go to search lots of info there.
Welcome Darryl !!!
First let me say that BlkSVTTruck is incorrect about Black being fastest. Silver is.
I got a Y2K Silver L and I love it. I've had it for about 2 months and I still can't help but stare at it all the time and drive it all the time.
I got the SnugLid lo-profile with finished edges, and the bed rug for the bed. Also had the underside of the snuglid "carpeted" to match the bedrug. Snug lid did it at the factory and it looks perfect. It's like having the world's larget trunk. It is very cool, and I highly reccomend going that route. Also, have the snuglid attached with the clamp system instead of bolting it directly to the truck.
Enjoy!!!

First of all welcome to the board, and glad to have another L owner in the Chicagoland area. We have recently started a Illinois area Lightning club. See ILLNESS under local Lighting Clubs at http://nloc.org/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro
You should probably wait on all modifications to your truck until you come to the next ILLNESS outing to see what others have done with theirs. I wish I could have had that opportunity when I first got my Lightning as I would have done some costly things differently. I have a Rhino spray in liner, red to match my truck. It looks nice and works well. It also probably added 100+ pounds which isn't helping on the dragstrip. I had a Duraliner in my previous truck and it wore all the paint off of the inside of the bed beneath the liner. No more plastic liners for my trucks. I like the look and idea of the BedRug, and based on your statements for your loads, it may be the best choice. Don't know anything about Lund caps, I have a Glasstite Rally which is strong and functional, but I now prefer the look of the Creative Innovations lid with the molded wing and third brake light. The Snuglids are also real nice. But again, I highly recommend you come look at some other local Lightnings first because each product has its good and bad points, and you are the one that is going to have to live with it. The last thing I would do on a new Lightning is settle for whatever the dealer can or will get you.
Good Luck in whatever you do at hope to see you at an ILLNESS outing.
To BlkSVTTruck;
Dave,
RobG and I are heading to Great Lakes Dragway at Union Grove, Wisconsin tonight.
Directions are on Tony Soprano's (RobG) post on the NLOC ILLNESS board. Hope you can make it. He's going back to Byron Sunday, don't know yet if I will be there. I contacted Blackhawk farms, but have gotten no response.
I'll have to follow up on that again and let everyone know.

Darryl, Lightning Bob gave very good advise! I brought My stock truck with the group to see what mods I liked. I'm glad I did, now I have a baseline, (stock et's) & can check if My mods are helping as I go along. Check other guys bedliners & caps before you buy,You'll be much happier. Lloyd
