Well my truck is going in for a drop next week. My local hot rod shop is doing it when they get back from SEMA. I went with a 4.5/6.5 custom kit w/o c-notch reguired which is good becuase I wanted to avoid that. Cant wait to get that thing slammed.

There is no way you'll be able to get away with a 6" rear drop w/o C-Notch.... I don't know who convinced you on that one, but it isn't true. With a C-Notch, the frame is actually stronger. You don't want your axle smacking the frame when you hit a bump without a C-Notch... it wll make you cringe, believe me.

Im lowered 2/3 coils up front hanger in the rear, and i already rub on frame and sway bar right before full steering lock. stock rims/tires (16s)

I've ran 6 without a C-notch. You can do it, but you better have some S T I F F shocks to get away with it. I'm sitting at 5 right now, and I've got a notch sitting in the garage, just haven't put it on yet.

It is doable, but it's a PITA.

He said that as long as I dont drive it down side streets and excessive pot hole roads as a daily driver I will be ok. I plan on using it for the track only, with some minor local driving/racing. As long as the axle does not rub on a smooth road I will be happy. I heard nightmares about the c-notch. Im hoping for the best.

You would have to be nuts to try anything more than about 4" without a notch. NFW you can pull off 6.5". Even with button bump stops, you will be riding them, probably even at rest. Your ride quality will be horrible and the handling dangerous.

Agreed. I drove for a day without C-Notches because I didn't have time to install them. They were very easy to install, once I took my bed off. Strait forward simple install..... take the extra time and spend the extra couple of bucks and do it right.

All it will take is one good, hard slam on the bumpstops of frame, and he'll be putting a notch in there.

My truck will hit the bumpstops sometimes... hurts my back!
