Please let me know if you guys got the "Service Engine Soon" light when it started leaking? My light went on today and I could swear my intercooler reservoir is now down an inch from where it's always been. I have been checking it regularly. Just turned over 14.7K, build date was 4/26/99 on my RED beast.

Thanks,
Lightning Bob

nope...no service engine soon light here.

BTW...my dealer is still waiting on my intercooler to arrive. Also, they told me that the part I was getting was the exact part that was already in my truck. The service writer said he was told by the service manager that most likely I would be back at a later date and at that time the new 2001 intake/intercooler should be available that will permanently fix the problem.....

who knows. ;(

I don't have the paperwork in front of me but, mine was replaced 2 times. The first replacement lasted about 2,000 miles and started again. This one now has about 8,000 miles on it. I am waiting for it to go anytime!

Hey, any room for me on this boat?

Black 99
19,500
Noticed the intercooler was empty added 1/2 gal of water
19,800
its down an inch from where I filled it to.

No service engine soon light.
I think it'll hold together until they quit making the 00 engine and start with the 01 engine.

I just added another quart of fluid. Has anyone taken their truck in with obvious mods, like a filter? Think the warranty would be questioned? Tundra, I like your idea; when are the '01 engines available?

Cool

The motor put in mine this week had a sticker on the left\drivers side that was dated June 2000. I have been told that Ford made 24000 of these motors so they probably just slap a sticker on it as it goes out to the field. My guess it will be sometime before they start running out of the original production run.

Just looked at my intercooler level. Down 1 inch from the cool mark. Looks like I have leaker, 6,700 miles on the 2000 L. I don't like the idea of this coolant goo going into the engine. I will have to call the dealer on Monday.

Twisted, I remember seeing that 24000 number, I think it was in the video the dealership gave me. Not to throw this thread off-topic, but I think that these are bottom-end engine blocks (no c. head, intercooler, s/c) I could be wrong though.

Date on left valve cover: 5-5-99

Turned 33,333 miles just now, but it had ~20,000 miles on it late last February when it leaked. New one was installed in middle March and hasn't leaked since (KOW).

I had to rent an Escort while mine was being swapped. Talk about culture shock! It's hard on your driving style to go from Ford's fastes vehicle to their slowest. I guess the dealer is selling too many Foci (is that the word for more then one Focus?) to put them in their rental fleet just yet.

There is a rumor going around that recent swaps have been with the 2001 intercooler/blower. Any truth?

My dealer informed me that I would be getting the exact same part that my truck orginally shipped with. He went on to say that I would be back later as it WOULD leak again. He said that by next time Ford should have the new lower intake/cooler available (2001 part? *dunno*).

oh well....it's been almost a month now in a ford focus and I am going stir crazy. To make things worse my new radio, Kenwood z919 - mp3 player, showed up today. woa is me sniff sniff

well enough self pitty...just imagine how happy I will be when I get it back

I've got a 2000 White recieved 3-31-00
noticed the leak at about 8500 miles and it's 8700 miles and in the shop.
So now I've got a ford contour drive.
Just talked to the sevice rep and the dye check confirms that it is the intercooler.
so now they are going to Emergency order it.

Also they are installing the star washer for the front end clunk.
