Post Question For The Experts?

I have my choice of adding a superchip or changing to 4:11 gears. Which do you think would give the most seat of the pants performance increase. At this point I am not concerned with the speedometer correction of the 4:11s. Far as the early shifting on my transmission I have a Transgo shift reprogrammer installed. I also have a 9.5" torque converter.

Go with a chip. I wouldnt recommend a superchip, but most people report good luck with any of the chips mentioned on this board.

Since you have improved shifts already, the greatest benefit of the chip is already mitigated, but another good reason to buy is that its much easier to install a chip than gears.

Go with the chip of your choice. Did you notice a big seat of pants performance improvement with the torque converter?

Yes I noticed a big difference in the stall and takeoff power but because it is a looser converter you loose the hard shifts of the shift kit. It still shifts fast but won't scratch between gears anymore. So will I see more from the chip or the gears? And thanks for you replys.

Go with a chip, considering there is no 4.11 gear available for our trucks.

Precision Gear has a ring and pinion but there is no shim kit avaiable. You will have to guess on that one. But If I already have a shiftkit what can the chip do for me? I don't believe there is that much spark retard between shifts. And wouldn't the gears keep the engine in the sweet spot.

I put a superchip in mine about a month ago and love it. Ive got it out right now to get reburned- i had to reprogram the pcm so im getting the chip reburned with a new "high altitude" burn that superchips has come out with. Supposed to wake em up even more.

Got the flip chip. Most of the difference is in the trans shifting. You dont really realize how sloppy the 4r100 is until you put the chip in.

Havent heard anyone having problems with Superchips... just dont get a hypertech chip. We've got an L in the shop right now with a fried tranny from his hypertech chip. the rest of the truck is butchered too.

And as far as shim kits for the gears you can use OEM for shims for it. The majority of gear swaps ive done didnt even need to change shims so you might even get lucky.
