Overspray??? Did I get screwed???
Cleaning up my Red 2K L today and noticed what looked like a little road tar on the very edge of the hood near the latch area. I popped the hood for a closer inspection and guess what??? I found gloss black spray paint on the latch for the hood, around the plastic area and even a small amount toward the middle of the hood!! Is the bar behind the grill (where FORD emblem is) supposed to be body color or black? Mine is black and you can tell it was spray painted! What gives? When I bought truck (Last Sat. with 9 miles) the dealer casually wrote on my contract that the bumper had to be repainted due to being scratched while being unloaded off the truck. He said it was just a small scratch but they had to inform me. Now it looks like it was more to it than that. What should I do? Should I go back to the dealer and raise cain? I love the truck and will keep it, but maybe there was more damage than they said. If so, do you think I can get them to renegotiate my contract (cheaper price on truck)?? BTW - I just left the dealer yesterday as they had to "touch up" 3 small spots on the paint (hood had a fingerprint in it, right fender had a mild blemish like it had been hit with a car door, and the left side of the bed had been sanded slightly with sand paper after someone did a bad job trying to touch up a rock chip). So, did I get screwed or what?
Thanks and sorry for such a long book!

Well on the good side - At lest you got the first friggin scratch out of the way. And you have nothing to lose by going back to the dealer. I would go on a friday night and be in the showroom when you BRING UP the damage that was on your truck. I know its a bit*h. My black truck was 3 weeks old when its was covered with white over- spray, when the painters were painting a nearby gas storage tank in the refinery. To my co-workers it has become "Speckled Lightning". They had a detail man come to the jobsite and he got the paint off, all my paint, but couldn't do anything for all the plastic trim and tonneau cover. Good luck at your dealer!
The grill is grey like your bedrails, not black. I wouldn't accept it. How will you convince someone that this limited edition vehicle you want high dollar for hasn't been in a bad wreck when they see the overspray?
